i’m due for an oil change and i was thinking of picking up the usual Royal Purple 10w30, does anyone have any comments on to this oil? i may just try it out…

would i have any problems using the 5w30 stuff in my RB20DET?

you’ll have no problems. but the farther apart the weight the more frequent your oil changes need to be. for example someone running 5w30 would need more frequent oil changes then someone using 10w30. its just that they get burned quicker but coat the engine better since its a lesser viscosity(not sure if i spelled it right). lol.

These oils are good especially when you are going to run your car hard; like on a track day; you’re oil won’t break down as easily when things get hot…

We’re going to be using it in all our cars…

Stay away from royal purple. I’ve had bad experience with it and not only that, UOA also stated that the oil is actually thinner than it is rated, which is why it claims such high HP gains. It will kill your engine faster.

Some of the brands that have shown good UOA’s are Motul, Amsoil, ENEOS, and German made Castrol Syntec.

What is the approx on a case of 5W30? please

Just off topic a tad but whats the km’s you would change this oil after? I am changing mine 3000km running Castrol Syntec 10w30.

Depends on how you run your car; we change our oil before and after every track event…

Every 3k is good… monitor your oil and see…

We ran the 0W50 at the track and it performed very nicely…
