Wrecking Yards, my man. There are a few Altima/Maximas around town that have the required engine.
Just make sure you get the wiring harness, ECU and NATS (nissan anti-theft system) module/keys all from the same car, or you’ll have to get the dealer to reprogram some keys for you before you can actually test fire the biatch! The motor and trans are up to you, though if you can get one with a 6 speed maxima w/ LSD, go for that, the others don’t have it.
I was talking a Nissan tech today about putting a 3.5 in a U13 Altima chassis… he says it can be done but would take some serious work to get it done with results that can be safe and stand the test of time…
However he says that i would have to cut the chassis to get her to fit, and wouldnt that weaken the body heavily? maybe this plan isnt meant to be… I worried that the chassis would be weak and that the whole NATS/key issue (appearently can be turned off)
Hmmmm… I like the SR20, but there isnt a FWD one, there is a SR18DE that came in some Bluebirds, but the SR20DE and DET were on AWD transmissions, which means that it wont fit the body and i’ll have this nice spinning shaft because i dont think i can fit a AWD system in, again, weaking frame to make it fit…
What is a SR18, i assume same block just smaller displacement which makes me wonder it i can correct that with 20 parts… ideas?
and what the hell is SQR23DET? is that like some type of frankstein engine… will it have some evil scientist screaming “ITS ALIVE” everytime i start the car?
How reliable/experienced is this guy? Has anyone actaully attempted this swap before? If not, where is he getting his info? Is he just guessing?[/quote]
I guessing its speculation, however as far as i know, there is no U13 Chassis Altimas with a 3.5 in them, and i have search a while for it too. I would love to do it, but i cant see i have the space for it to work at least without huge amounts of engine bay modifications…
