Eric's GSXR Buggy

so got some build thread competition coming my good friend.

someone will be acquiring a GSXR1000 motor in a few weeks. :ninja

We(us four with these things being built) will have to have an offroad race with them when they’re all completed. I’ve got 300+ acres of land to make a course and record the race for shift viewing pleasure. :rofl

PS, you all better have some suspension travel.

I want to be able to drop it from a roof top and not bottom out, I will have some serious suspension!

This sounds like a plan!

I’ll run mine right into the ground if need be :thumbup

OK finally got around to working on this thing. I tacked up the rear suspension just to see where I wanted to palce everything. The rear setup is going be modded slightly once I pick up more steel. I still need to find some 20" rear shocks that will hold the weight of the GSXR motor and me.

Stock shocks don’t hold anything. All though it looks fun as hell lowered with 14" Hoosiers on there.

Removed the rear shocks and put wood in there just to hold the back end up. The shocks are actually going to be placed just in front of the axle. These are only 17", I am going with 20" ones.

Seen a video of a gocart with one of these motors in it…Sick project

Those always seem pointless as 75% of the power the motors they use can make will never reach the ground. There are a few other examples. They do make one hell of a smoke show though.

At least if this thing spins the tires it’s chucking dirt and mud in a rooster

I’m sure everyone has seen this video… I think it looks fun…just saying this one seems to get some of the power to the pavement

I have seen many videos, nothing beats a off road buggy with a bike motor. Street karts are pointless.

I have been lurking on minibuggy.net the kid that built this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ho0v1vw7wTY is on there. It has a CBR9XX in it. Built RIGHT. it hooks, flys level handles great and is just SICK. He has been blowing the PTO type drive shafts after those videos and is redesigning the thing a bit now. Everyone runs P-Car 930 CV’s and axles, with slightly sloppier bearing fitment for more CV angles, they are getting like 24" rear travel from them and hold all the power you can throw at them.

anyway, snoop around there for ideas. there are some great budget machines built and running great in there.

Dude, you HAVE to stud that shit with menard ice tires and race it with me next year! I also want to throw some hoosers or bomber road tires on it to autox it for fun too.

PS, I picked up my motor last week and its going to get stripped down and measured for SW sketches soon. Keep doing work so it keeps me motivated too!

Yea I started a build thread on minibuggy.net somewhere. I’v been on there a while actually. My fiance works during the day, so I am usually free to work on it then. Hopefully getting a bunch done on it this coming week.

Heres the same buggy, just a bit modded. But once done, I want to make lexan panels pretty much like these to cover the buggy.
