Euro maps on a US GPS.

Had anyone successfully loaded and used European maps on a GPS bought in the US? If so, what model did you buy?

From all the crap on the web, it looks like certain models of TomTom either come with, or can have uploaded, the Euro maps. However, it is really unclear about whether it actually works or not. I’d rather not spend more than $200 on the unit, and $50 on the map if possible.

I know that the BestBuy monkeys aren’t really going to be able to help me on this one.

If you search the specs on cnet it shows which ones work in Europe. Hope that helps

Thanks

Had a nose around there and got some answers.

Went with the TomTom 630 + 2GB SD card. Got is from Staples in the end, because BestBuy had no idea about what was going on, nor any useful stock anyway, i.e., no units with an SD slot. Downloaded the euro maps, uploaded to the SD card, and voila. Cost about $350 all in, so a bit more that I wanted to spend, but hey ho.
