Honestly, thats when I noticed a large majority of traffic, Sunda-thursday night 11pm people are getting ready for the next day, friday they go out, Sat a lot stay in.
translation: I guess I was under the mentality that if you wanted to play an instrument/thought it was cool… you learned how to play an instrument.
case in point. kid was with his mom at guitar world, I would say he’s 14/15 I popped in to see what they had for sale on the clearance table. kids looking at a pearl drumset. the whole kit was like 1400 dollars. I know because it’s the exact same one I ended up piecing together when I played drums. salesman says “so do you have any drumming experience, etc etc…” kid replies with, "well, I’ve played rockband for the past 3 weeks, I’m pretty good… " I guess the salesman talked the mother out of it, because when I was walking out of the store, I saw him in the guitar section, and told his mom “ok, well he was gay, and I’ve beaten guitar hero like 10 times, so I will just get a guitar…”
pretty soon kids are just going to start e-socializing.
Love the logic, but generalizations are poor way to look at life. I play 3 instruments, sat first chair for as long as I played one of them(which was for about 10 years), doesn’t mean this game isn’t entertaining - after all it is just that a game. Lets face it, every kid at some point wants to be in a rock and roll band, for most its just a passing fad, for them, they can play this and get the feeling they are, you know be kids. For people like myself, its just entertainment, its not like people who play guitar hero(or rock band) are selling sold out shows to fans, its a way to pass some time with friends, to enjoy music, and on a some what interactive level.
As for your story, kids will be kids, just because I played cops and robbers when I was a kid doesn’t mean I wanted to be either, part of being a child is trying things and finding out what you like. I have nothing but sympathy for the youth of today, the cornucopia of violence and chaos they are forced to watch with innocent eyes is a tragedy. This game is about as innocent as an entertaining game can be today, so kids think they are rock stars, better then them thinking they are mass murderers. Who knows maybe the Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana or Jimi Hendrix of tomorrow will have had their first experience with a guitar playing guitar hero, I can think of a million things far worse to inspire the youth of today.
