The new Evo is a much heavier car than the old one and from what I hear its not a 4G63 anymore. Of course Road and Track and Motor Trend bashed the Evo for years for not being more refined like the German cars. They said they drive like a go-cart and were too noisy to compete with other vehicles in its price range. In all actuality, Mitsubishi nailed its mark and sold plenty of Evo’s. Evidently we (as entusiasts or customers) dont think they are loud enough and like the car to feel like a go-cart. Bring back the nasty, unrefined, beast of an Evo if you ask me. And the STi… Even Subaru elitist have yet to learn to love that red headed step child they call the Impreza now :idiots

Correct - the 06 IX was the last run of the 4G63 before it was cast into the oem motor hall of fame and retired. The new 4b11 powerplant is an all aluminum open-deck design so it is VASTLY different in every way from its 4g63 predecessor but thus far companies such as AMS are showing HUGE gains with just basic bolts ons - meaning it is showing early on to take mods as well as the 4g63 had. The real test will be longevity and to see if it can run as much hp oem as the 4g63 was able to. The new Evo is more advanced in the handling dept. as its the first one to carry the relished S-AYC (super active yaw control) which has been one of the vehicles greatest assets on the JDM version. Nobody likes change…and this is the first major redesign of the evo in about 10 years…so it was due…but like anything else it takes time to adjust to. I had the pleasure of driving one and was happy w/ the acceleration and handling…but was disappointed to note that Mitsu had still not addressed the sloppy oem clutch and break pedal feel.

And not to be an ass, well ok, to be an ass if looks really mattered more than performance, half of you wouldn’t be rockin honda civic’s. IMO.
You rock the civic becuase it is a platform that has a huge aftermarket, you can make them fast without dumping TOO much money into them, compared to lets say my platform. But I don’t want to get off topic so, im done. /rant
