bored as shit right now…

Very ugly and gay looking :runaway :shifty

I don’t know much about these cars. When were they released? I think their sick. I’d rock one.

Look way cooler than the last ones.

I’d take the new STI…the new STI’s are the shit IMO. :nod

yes they are… just smoke the tails a bit and your set. hatchbacks are the shit

The Evo has finally embraced it’s street roots a little more and moved from the rally aspect into a more track tuned inspired car right out of the box. In my opinion that’s a good thing. Interior is as shoddy as just about any car in this price bracket(aside from the seats) but the rest seems good. Talking with a few people in the driveline business who have prodded mitsu engineers for some hardcore data, it seems they have finally stepped up the ball in the driveline dept on this car and have built a system that was designed to take exponentially more torque than what the car is released with, and built in some rather nice features for adjustability and tuning for those seeking to keep it alive. Mitsu stated that the Evo and 9 drivelines can live a very healthy life if kept below a 400ftlbs(crank) mark when driven(shifted) and maintained properly, oil cooler wouldn’t hurt… Pass that threshold and things go south rather quickly. Evo 10…the engineers are claiming more like 600ftlbs. Quite impressive and a good step up from the days of the the 1g DSM era.

I had a 2+hour conversation with Jon @ TRE regarding this matter. Mitsu really seems to have addressed some BIG issue with the X right from the get go.

The motor I’ve yet to make a decision on and won’t until I can get my hands into one. With almost fifty 4G63 builds and still counting, I’ve grown quite a liking to that powerplant and it will be hard to beat in terms of reliability and bulletproof running right out of the box. I’m waiting for the first ones to show up in the yards where I can tear one down and research the tech they’ve put into it(materials, rod length and ratios, etc) See in fact what this motor is capable of w/o even having to start it up. Many of these aftermarket “evo” companies have already begun the HP extraction and the car is doing quite well. Only time will tell for this new lineup…

The 4B11 is cool…its all aluminum so it’s way lighter than its 4g63 brother. I wouldn’t imagine the block will be as bulletproof as the 4g63 was but…that’s to be expected w/ the open deck aluminum setup. Nice that they offer the 5 speed manual or Mitsu’s variation of Audi/VW’s DSG Auto-Manual gearbox. I for one think the X is a good looking automobile but wasn’t thrilled with my first drive. It’s definitely more for everyone and less raw and obnoxious as my Evo VIII and IX were. The X is more forgiving in the suspension department and the throttle isn’t at aggressive, making modulation difficult. The clutch felt lighter than my VIII and IX but I’ll take the stronger setup over the pedal feel any day. I would imagine Mitsu added an even more aggressive restrictor pill in the clutch line than they had on the VIII and IX to make it less abusive on the driveline, removing that should remedy the sloppy pedal feel. I do like the new “smart” can bus based ECU that doesn’t require the dire attention that the VIII and IX did with bolt ons. Add mods, increase boost, drive fast. Tuning will net you even MORE power on the X but isn’t the absolute necessity that it was on the previous cars. Okay, I’m done for now. Will come back later if I get bored.

Some linked pics are due in here.

Visual battle is tough.

It’s just as odd seeing a high performance 4dr Wagon as it was seeing a high performance 4dr back in 2000, it will take a while to get used to.

The STI is so sick :bowdown, the fact that the evo’s taillights are the headlights basically backwards looks horrible.

As far as looks, I’d have to go with the Evo X, but if I had to choose, evo IX and 2005 or 2007 Sti would be my picks over the new ones anyday. :nod

yah I deff. like the 07 STI looks over the brand new ones…I always liked the hoods a little bit more on the Evo’s tho…but If I were to own either one, hands down it would be a STI…you cant beat the sound of a Horizontally apposed engine IMO

Light years better exterior than the previous versions. Interior still looks like dog shit.

The clutch has been suspect for years. Has that been resolved?

evo kills the STi in the looks department, but that isn’t saying much when they made the STi an ugly 5-door hatch.

The new engine needs to prove itself before I become a fan of it though.

neither the evo or sti are bad looking cars IMO, vlad has a point though… may take some getting used to.

i love the new look of the sti and as for the new evo…shouldve stuck with what they had :nod

Well you can only run a certain design for so long and the temporary fixes of face lifts can only go on for so long. The old design was past it’s due date thats for sure, I’m glad that at least the GSR model is still offered in conventional 5spd.

I have always told people that if I were to choose a 4-door platform, I would go with the Evo. The new Evo X IMO looks nice. Not the best but it isn’t something I would say looks ugly. Now the Sti, USED to be a good looking car until this bullshit they did with the hatch. I know that the rally-cross world cars are mostly hatch cars, so i’m going to assume that, this is why they did it. But I would NEVER spend a dollar on a hatch. Ever. Sorry hatch guys, just my opp.

You meant wagon I assume?

Wagons aren’t so bad, there are some cool ones out there.

:lol

I was soo waiting for someone to pick up on that.
