External Networked Harddrive question

Just wondering how this all works. Is there a website i can go to and access all of the studd with like a name or password? Im going on a vacation to St.Marteen in January. There is a computer with internet there. So if i had one of these HD would i be able to dump pics on that computer and upload them on to my harddrive @ home? or could i even look @ whats on my HD/play movies from st.marteen?

Im looking into a WD 1TB… i got alot of pics and vids and i already filled my 300gig one in a year. http://www.compuplus.com/i-WD-My-Book-Premium-Edition-II-External-1TB-USB-20Firewire-800400-7200-RPM-Hard-Drive-Storage-Device-WDG2T10000N-1009063~.html?sid=760n9h0iowy12t1

i see that u can only access this thing through netwrk connection too? So i cant hook up the firewire to my comp and transfer that way?

i need something i can hook it up to the firewire connection

Remote desktop will give you access to your computer and any properly mounted drives, being able to watch movies off of it is less likely to happen. Really depends on your connection, still rather doubtful.

other ppl on here are saying you can watch movies and such on theres. So can i use remote desktop if im using my buddies mac?

yes you can download the remote desktop client for osx, google should get you there.

As for watching movies, like I said, it depends on the connection.

so then you think go with a regular EHD? CC had a 1tb one for sale for 199$ tommaro

just get an external HDD

as for streaming pics and/or movies from home, to a remote loaction, you can use www.orb.com (if you have a PC)

up

i cant set up orb off my External now…it only reads off mypictures

you have to add the folders you want it to read from
