F*c|< the emergency room....Go to walmart.

HOLY COW, THAT IS A SUPER DEAL. THAT IS LIKE… I DON’T KNOW REALLY FUCKING GOOD!

There is no way it will be cheaper than the taxes we are paying now. We can barely balance a budget now with the medicaid burden and tax income as it is. Regardless of how awesome everyone thinks it will be, I guarantee it will cost most of us 40% of our income.

I do agree, however, that doctors will not be so quick to get patients in and out of their offices. Although, it depends on how many patients the state/fed government would force them to see on a daily basis.

so you mean i will be able to get my oil changed, get an x-ray and my prescriptions filled, go to subway, go clothes shopping and get my groceries all in one store!?!?! :fry:

umm? isn’t most insurance companies emergency room co-pays like $75?

How is that expensive? and if you don’t have health insurance, well, get a better fucking job so you can afford it.

edit: and, if you have to WAIT to get into the emergency room, you shouldn’t be there in the first place… if your radius is sticking out where your thumb is (happened to me) then yeah, you’ll have no problem getting into the ER

i dunno. last time I was at the emergency room (few months ago) i was high sticked at hockey; went all the way through my face into my mouth (i could see my mouth from my cheek) and I had to wait 2 hours before anyone even saw me.

I first walked in and there was noone there. A woman was sitting nonchalantly behind her desk doing paperwork. I asked if someone was supposed to be here she’s like “yeah she’ll be back soon.” I said “well, I’m kind of pouring blood out of my face onto myself and your waiting room, could I maybe get some gauze or something” she went “uuunnhhhhh” as she got me a paper towel

I’d be so pissed if I didn’t have health insurance and I paid $1,000 for that.

Eh, i guess i’ve been lucky.
I mean, one time i broke my arm, i was laying in a hosptial bed for 4 hours before i could see teh anesthesiologist (somone else got a fish hook in his eye)
I was in major pain, but they kept giving me demerol so it was all good

His mistake was using WalMart as an example.
Other countries use a system like this.
There is a doctor and he takes a quick look at you if it does not seem too serious he sends you home, maybe with some meds.
I watched 6 people get processed in about an hour.
Yeah, that’s right 10 minutes in and out.
If it seems serious he sends you to hospital.
How many times have you waited 3-8 hours just to be told take these pills if you aren’t better in ten days come back.
It is all about paperwork and these express places don’t seem to get buried in it.
It is definately worth exploring in the USA.
You definately need a good “all around” doctor to pull this off however.
With today’s access to info any doctor should be able to get worldly advice.

The LARGEST issue with healthcare in this country has nothing to do with who’s paying for it… but that the health-insurance companies and health care facilities are FOR-PROFIT organizations where the value of meeting sales and profit goals outweigh the wellness and care of a person… THAT’S THE ISSUE…

Maybe he did not necessarily mean Wal-Mart, but you want to know what really worries me? It was a half assed idea, and I don’t believe the guy.

He has not put too much thought into it, and one of the big points Obama makes is health care benefits for EVERYONE, thats a standard McCain is going to have to try and run with.

I dont know, in the end I dont believe McCain, and I definately dont believe his hot running mate, shes full of fibs!

I will disagree with that. Last year I took my fiancé to the ER with severe abdominal pain and vomiting. We had to wait for 4 hours in the waiting room before we were even brought to a bed. It then took another 8 hours for her to be diagnosed with appendicitis. It took just about 24 hours from the time we entered the hospital doors until she went into “emergency” surgery to remove her appendix. The surgeon said her appendix was the biggest he had ever seen.

I think he was just tossing out healthcare ideas out into the air like brainstorming on the fly.

I do agree with what you are saying… in the debates i had that same feeling. Especially when Obama kept on insisting most stuff was not true. I guess I just trust obama a little more…

Good idea sure(more clinics I mean), Support it going into fucking WAL-MART?
