lol piss
NM
Hmm someone in the company must have sold the chinese some pictures…lol. The Derrick shakers are $70k but usually if they break they are replaced for free. I know that Derrick has done it in the past with Tyson, the machine was basically ruined and only a couple years old and they replaced it. It might have been a stack sizer though.
Meh… I have no problem foreign goods…
who would buy the chinese one anyway? it probably sucks.
I think it will be funny in years to come when China comes out with “new” stuff and another industrializing nation blatantly rips them off.
People like to learn the hard way. Ask me how I know.
I like your green much better. I’d buy yours. <3
but like you said before, in china, that doesn’t mean shit.
Whats wrong with that, I base the equipment I spec based on how well the reps treat me, the nicer, more useful, more lunches, more happy hours, more trips, etc… the rep provides me the more I am going to spec that product. Its a bonus when the rep is a hot girl too.
That is normal.
:meh:
I’m guilty of taht to some extent (giving preferential treatment to vendors once I have an established history with them), but ultimately it is the product that makes the decision. It may be attractive once, but if it ends up being a POS, I’m never coming back.
i think everyone does that. i do it too. sony gave me a free tshirt. panasonic gave me a free 50". i push panasonic and so do all my guys.
that sucks newman. i’m sorry.
That’s the fun part about HVAC, most of them are very similar and it is very much personal preference to what you use. Realistically speaking there is very little difference between Tran, Carrier, Bryant, York, McQuay etc… It really comes down to how well a rep treats me to what I schedule. I mean the contractor can still do the math to find an as equal.
It’s because Derrick has a US patent, not a chinese patent…
Anyways… this is nothing major Newmy.
If you guys have decent people in sales and support you should have no problem convincing any company to buy your machine for $50k more.
Assuming you do most of your businesses to American companies… shipping that chinese machine will add several thousand to the cost.
Machines like this are not a ‘get and forget’ thing. You buy the company’s rep, the post purchase support, the ease of doing continued business etc.
If you guys know how much every minute / hour of downtime converts to lost income for your customers you can demonstrate your increased value by proving your ability to offer better support.
What you MIGHT want to do is go to where the $20k machines are being used or scrapped and buy it for $8k… then tear it down and prove, bolt by bolt, where your machine is better engineered and uses better quality products.
document the whole reverse-reverse engineering and get Josh to make a wicked video about it…lol
it would do alot more than magazine ads and tradeshow booths.
fuck it, buy one with a fake check
claim its your design when it arrives
tell china to fuck off
im damn positive that the chinese unit is not built nearly as well as the Derrick units, the derrick stuff is rock solid. its probably about as tough as you can get w/o randomly adding braces to stiffen up other braces.
and its not like im a current / past derrick employee saying this, im just someone whos seen and worked w/ a bunch of the shakers and distillers
i build and weld these at derrick just by comparing the pics i can tell theres are junk, ours have twice the amount of bracing and they still break in the field, theres will be falling apart in a matter of weeks. im not worried. fuck em
but yours looks so much nice
