Fast cam swapts in FWD GMs

Its pretty common to do in car cam swapts in 3800 GM’s. When GM, hlems, all data, says you have to remove the engine. By just lowering the passanger side of the engine cradle and few inches. You get room to slide the cam out thu the pasanger wheel well. Its baisic, even with jackstands and a floor jack. Did one in RIT UC parking lot last summer.

People would do that all the time time with GM 2.8 and 3.1 liter engines. It is only a small hole

How much is a cam for the 3800 anyway

why not right? you can always weld the patch back in, or leave it. it’s not like you drilled through the frame or anything. a few inches lower and I would have been worried.

That is pretty funny, but its a lot easier than dropping the cradle.

Anywhere from 200-350 ISH. . .Sorry I had to make the ISH bigger to kind of emphasez that its around there.

It isn’t shit to drop the craddle. . .I will admit, I did think about slammin a hole in the side of my car as well. But dropping the craddle is the way to go.

I guess I was way off. I only paid $230 for mine so I don’t care.

The balancer would be loads of fun to get out of the way without the cradle dropped.
