You’re talking about Dan’s car. Dan, Al, and I already looked at ssdragon’s car with HPT. We’re the ones that told him if he gets a wbO2 then we can start from scratch and tune it.
SBR called me today to tell me that my turbo is in. We’re planning on doing the install on the 16th of June out in Greensburg (I have the same car for those that don’t know). After that weekend, we should have a solid tune for this car under boost. However, I’ll be running a GM 2.5 BAR MAP sensor… so you’d have to pick up one of those if we were to use my tune as a starting point for your car. You’ll be better off with one anyway.
Did you ever change out your plugs? I found some decent plugs from NGK if you need numbers.
As for this motor… stock CR is 10.4:1 on cast pistons. Wiseco offers 8.5:1 forged pistons. Rods are forged from the factory and good for a few hundred HP. Rest of the motor should hold 500HP before trouble.
Later this summer, probably in August, I’ll be throwing in reground cams, Wiseco pistons, Ferrea valves/springs, and possibly neutral balance shafts. I’ll probably end up running 10psi on that setup. I wouldn’t go more than that without rebuilding the tranny. This tranny (4t45e) is stout… but not that stout. IPT in New Jersey rebuilds them to handle 500-600HP for about $3000 (includes high stall TC). I haven’t found anyone closer that’ll do the same overhaul yet (waits for suggestions from locals).
I’m interested in seeing this car fully tuned though. I want to see how it stacks up against my setup.
