First tattoo questions & care.

road salt makes you feel like a man when you rub it in a fresh one.

You think he is more versed then that tattoo artists that use aquaphor?

I was told to make the switch at the advice of Derek Noble who did most of my work.

One of the most well known in Seattle. I have NEVER had them heal so nice and fast. Also my ink is years old now and looks brand new.

Was the site made in Geocities or what?

I don’t even know what that is. Nerd

Well to play devils advocate…many artists suggest to use A&D and even supply a small foil pack of it. Granted YES it’s cheap and that way the customer gets the feeling of value add and the shop pays a few cents but…
I don’t care what anybody says really…we all do what we think works best for ourselves. Simple as that.
I’m down to try Aquaphor next time as I said in reply to your specific post. I’m not picking sides or looking to start any spats.

I’ve used Aquaphor for 6 years now at the advice of my artist. He’s got me into magazines. The color in my tattoo looks as good as the day it was done. I get compliments everyday.

No ointment will pull color out more than another, its the application and amount used. The problem is most people cover tattoos right after getting them. Never do this. Secondly, keep it clean by washing it 2-3 times a day with water and antibacterial soap for the first few days. Afterwards, apply a small amount of Aquaphor and RUB IT IN, like a lotion. Don’t slop it on, the wound needs to heal and can’t do that if you suffocate it with ointment. Do that for about a week, until all peeling has finished. (DON’T PICK AT IT).

After a week or so of this, apply Coco Butter to the tattoo for another week or two. (I apply Coco-butter to my tattoos EVERYDAY, even 6 years later).

/done

PS - keep your shit out of the sunlight for atleast 2 weeks. this includes pools. Don’t saturate the tattoo for extended periods of time. don’t go tanning.

I agree in that everyone is different. I have used tattoo goo(worked well), a&d(made me very itchy and scabbed), and aquaphor(amazing healing everything all set after a few days). But I doubt these are the same results for everyone. All of my tats since I made the switch look immaculate as well. But being as im no expert I am not sure how much of this is attributed to artist and quality materials.

What he said. Sans coco-butter ya homo. I still put aquaphor on mine.

I missed that part, my bad. I had to bandage the top of my foot when I got it inked for about a week to prevent oozing into the socks and sticking to the wound and to prevent rubbing as well.

That’s not exactly accurate, just a bro-tale myth IMO. My artist is always ready in about one weeks time or less, but I have to drive 5 hours.
But who are you visiting around Buffalo? Like I said before, every single artist’s work I’ve seen from around here sucks.

Again like traders said, what about the guys that say to use A&D? Or the guys that say to use nothing? Are they more correct? As aformentioned, it’s about personal preference and I’ve found that using water-based lotions/creams are much better. Moreover, it’s scientific fact that you ink can be dissolved out of the skin if using anything with lanolin oil, mineral oil, and/or petrolatum (petroleum, etc).

fuck getting tattooed switch. I get tattooes mongol.

let that shit dry out.

I’ll be seeing Ray at art and Soul tattoo.

There are a bunch of good tattooers in Buffalo

Read what I wrote above you brah. I hardly find your argument profound or compelling. However cool story.
Also LOL at everyone in Buffalo not being good. Dear god are you just trying to not be taken serious?

When you say shit like this…or the prior time you asked, do you really think anyone will answer you? You say all artists in Buffalo suck so anyone we say would start a shit storm.

Is the owner not aware that Art and Soul Tattoo is a trademark name for the LA-based shop Art and Soul Tattoo?
Either way, does he have a website? It seems like he doesn’t… and I’m not going to anyone that doesn’t have a site.

Such as?

No, I’m just saying that of everyone’s work I’ve seen around here, it was not good. That was about three years ago and I quit looking and decided to bite the bullet and just drive 5 hours to my previous artist. Granted, there’s no way in hell I could have seen every single artist’s shit, but of all the ones I saw, I did not like.

Heard Mike Taylor is very good, but I haven’t seen any of his work… I’m still thinking about what I’d get for my first tattoo lol

I guess it depends on the kind of tattoo you want…

Jon Mirro
Erich Foster
and a handful of others.

Yes, he knows.
No he don’t have a site… I personally know him he don’t tattoo full time anymore but I have seen his work and I’m very please with what I see from him.

So there you have it…Having a website makes you a good tattoo artist.

You can take a look in the tattoo thread and see some of the work from various artists.

Mike is very good. Scott and Jeremy work there too, and are very good, but i’d say Mike is the best.
