Flash Memory Camcorders. Anyone have one?

So I’m tossing around the idea of getting either a flash memory camcorder, or a hard drive one. The flash one that I want, the Panasonic S7, is down to $200 right now and I’m really thinking about getting one.

Does anyone have a flash memory camcorder? How does the video quality stack up? The reason I’m leaning towards a flash one is due to the size. It would be nice to have something that won’t take up space when hiking/camping/traveling. Also great for up-the-skirt video when skunkape is least expecting it.

Right now, I’m debating between that Panasonic, or a Sony DSC-SR45 HDD camcorder with a 30gb hard drive. The sony is $70 more, but has nightshot, the HD, but doesn’t have optical stabilization while the S7 does.

Opinions/thoughts/comments/concerns/bacon?

EDIT - After reading some reviews, the Canon FS100 is getting tossed into the mix. Seems to have superior video quality, but it’s $100 more than the S currently.

i don’t know. flash seems like it would be more pricey in the long run. i like my JVC everio 30 gb hdd camcorder.

Is it this years model? MG330 or something like that? We used to get a shitload of those returned, so I’m weary of that model.

I think the HDD will certainly be more convenient as far as not having to switch cards and w/e else. But I just bought an 8gb Ultra 2 SD card for $25, they are coming down like whoa.

What I am mainly concerned with, is the image quality. Although oddly enough, the Sony is 3x the size of the panasonic, but has a smaller image sensor. WTF is that.

That’s the one I just picked up, so far so good. It’s a hybrid, so HDD and SDHC. Image stabilization isn’t great, but seems fine otherwise.

What were they being returned for?

I’m not entirely sure actually. I just remember that 1/3 of our stock was open box items from returns.

is it true that these can’t zoom except for digitally=fail?

negative. S7 zooms 10x optically.

I was looking into getting a Canon HV20 camara. It’s a little pricey…around $500 but the quality is awesome.

Yeah that’s an HD cam. I was looking at those, but out of my price range.

ah ok…I’ll ask my buddy. He is a film major and would probably know about these.

Ended up with this one anyway. For the price range, it seems to be the best bet. And that color matches my car. :mamoru:

a positive of flash cards is the battery lasts way longer than the HDD ones… since it doesn’t have to power a disk drive.

i’ve been shopping for a cam also, still not sure wtf to get.

paulo…im considering the FlipUltra…its cheap and plugs directly into comp…seems like itll be easy for tkaing a quick vid and loading online.

I’m gonna pick it up after xmas to produce softcore azn porn.

seriously though, get this one.

too much money

wat

That’s the same one I got on Black Friday, but in the blue :gay2:

Easy to use, already put a bunch of movies on my computer and I’m pretty much retarded when it comes to stuff like that.

Hows the video quality? And how much was it on BF?

Video quality is fine. It’s not HD, but I didn’t pay for HD either. Watching it on my 47" TV I don’t think it’s any worse than standard broadcast stuff. I paid $299 for the camera plus $50 for a case/battery bundle.
