lots of good-to-know tidbits in there. Good find.
I guess we shouldn’t be surprised.
Yeah really…
Kinda one of the good things going for em too
Its kind of depressing, but when you look at the contracts Ford has, the Saleen ish is sort of a bumped SVT. I know the Cobra and Saleen Mustangs were different and the cost was a huge difference, but they were essentially on the same model. Its kind of the way I see it. The previews of the next F150 Lightning were hot as hell, too. I wish that would have materialized
SOB. that really sucks. good thing my next car is going to be an import, otherwise it probably would have been an SVT focus or fusion
Looks like MOPAR will be King of the Hill in that area now. Sucks tho, Ford will be even more boring now.
rumor had it that SVT was going to be transfered over to Rousch Racing instead (they already did a big portion of SVT’s engineering, development, etc). at least that was the word around the water cooler a few months ago when i was still a ford employee.
not a suprise at all…
ever since ford stopped production of the svt focus, i was kinda disappointed…
I think this was a false rumor… Roush is working with Dodge exclusively as far as I know right now for OEM development and such… It kind of confirmed it by me when I placed an order with VRH (Viper Race HQ) and the package came from Roush. I also know for a fact that Roush is building the Viper Competition Coupes for VRH.
wow… i really didn’t think THAT would happen, that sucks for ford
Roush Engineering did alot of the engineering work for the Ford GT, there is a SAE white paper out there written by people from Ford and the Roush. Once the agreement was signed between Carol Shelby and Ford, SVT was done for. There will not be any more SVT vehicles, but dont be suprised if you see more ‘shelby’ cars tho. SVT was being restructured, it is rumored that is why John Colletti left. They wanted a more direct connection between the regular vehicle engineering and the ‘peformance specialist’ engineers. I have read that SVT will be the peformance engineering go to people, but there will be no ‘SVT’ vehicles.
I highly doubt that Roush is woring exclusivly with dodge, Roush already produces a Roush Mustang and a Roush F150, Roush also just got in to the Ford crate engine buisness. I an not saying that Roush wouldnt work with them, just that a exclusive relationship i think would put thier racing relationship with Ford at risk. Roush also has some Roush certified Ford dealers. Roush Industries does do rapid prototyping so if any auto company writes them a check to do some work, i would imagine they would do it.
Things may have changed from when I have read about SVT.
Shame that ford’s line-up is so… boring.
they’ll figure out some more hi-po stuff eventually. Eventually.
That could very well be the case, I cannot know for sure. Its just from what I have heard about them doing Dodges prototyping, them building the Comp Coupes, supplying VRH with all support channels, and the tour that was taken at Roush where apparently there was virtually nothing but Dodge & Chrysler in the place at the time… it just sounds like a takeover to me.
LOL, at the rate Chrysler/Dodge/Benz is going, they will own Ford and GM in a few years anyway!
we’ll see.
:bloated: riiiight.
Right? While I was being sarcastic about them actually buying them out… What company has the most complete lineup and best concepts out right now? Hands down, Diamler Chrysler owned companies. LOL, shit, GM still hasnt even fixed their piston slap issue entirely, and all their cars all look the same. Ford on the other hand, has always had such WONDERFUL (LOL) quality which continues today, and they just canceled their flagship car (GT)… ummm?
Quite plainly, GM and Ford Market shares are declining steadily, and Chrysler group is gaining. Period. Yeah… they have more share currently, but they have been big-hitters LONG before Chrysler group. They were GIANTS compared to Chrysler group. Now Ford only has them by 5 percent, and GM only has them by 14 percent… with gaps closing slowly but surely.
Ha, speaking of GM, one of my friends just traded in his 1 year old Hummer because it had all kinds of issues, and another just traded in a 00’ toyota 4-runner with 100K miles that ran like new with no issues, for a new avalanche… that ALREADY has issues, before 100 miles! And lets not even get started on my sisters Chevy…
Roush may have done work with Dodge on the Viper, I’ll take your word for it because I honestly dont know. But Roush did do a lot of stuff with Ford. Not just for SVT. I used to work for Ford in Dearborn (Ford engineering HQ). I spent quite a bit of time in Roush shops having my prototype vehicles built, modified, etc for the programs I worked on. They really do alot more for Ford than the general public knows about.
