Forget the T-Rex, flying cars

[FONT=Verdana]Earlier this year, the Parajet Skycar Expedition, featuring the “World’s First Bio-fuelled Flying Car,” flew from London, England to Timbuktu in Mali, Africa. If you lusted over something so incredibly cool – a car that can transform from ground to air mode in about three minutes and actually works in both areas, then we’ve got good news for you: Parajet International Ltd has struck a deal to produce road-legal SkyCars with Rage Motorsport Ltd.

Rage will build the vehicle and Parajet will add all the parts that make it fly. A mock-up of the vehicle is pictured here, but Parajet says a “totally new chassis is being designed for the SkyCar which accommodates the rear fan system into the tubular chassis work.” This will reduce weight by about 80 kg (176 lbs). Other changes are to include a re-positioned rear parachute, more legroom and a three-cylinder, 140 horsepower fuel-injected Yamaha engine. How long will you have to wait for one? Parajet says test flights of the skycar should happen this September and the release date could be early 2010.

I’m no engineer by any means…but just by looking at it, everything about it’s aerodynamics seem suggest downforce…not exactly what you want when trying to get air born.

it has a parachute on it… just like an ultralight id imagine…

it looks heavy though lol

Yaahhhh… idk about this one.

I really can’t see that taking off and flying…

So what kind of license will you need to operate one of these bad boys lmao.

I will take out massive loans to own one of these

How expensive can that thing really be. I cant see anything over like 40K, and with the size and makeup of it, even that seems like a lot.

I want the 10 million dollar version. So I can activate my car’s wings and fly away

65 ish mph seems awful fast for a chute winged plane like that. Those normally fly MUCH slower.

“Roads?..Where we’re going, we dont need…roads.”

It would be awesome to fly over traffic jams and laugh. Like the ones by the Blue Water tower in the mornings.

you obviously are not a reader either.

I wonder how tough that chute is to pack up. Cool concept.

^true true

i think this would be neat to own. it would only be a matter of time til someone figures out how to mod one and make it a little faster, but still totally functional. i like it and would definitely own one.

this is going to end up with a TON of people getting twisted and tangled up in power lines trees and windmills.

hehehe god goin to work every day and seeing a 90 year old man hangin from a tree would be fucking ausome!
