Free finance software?

Is there any decent free finance software?

With my new job and finally a decent paycheck starting next week it’s time for me to get a choke hold on my finances. I’m about to start dual booting Ubuntu and Windas, Ubuntu as primary, for either gnucash or kmymoney unless there’s decent free finance software for winblows.

hmmm… cant seem to find anything for windows, although, if you run ubuntu as your primary, I really hope you’ve used it before. that OS stumped me for days at a time (and consequently also forced me to format and reinstall a few times because I messed up when changing some settings), but ran solid as hell

I was going to suggest looking on mininova, isohunt or the pirate bay for microsoft money (if your down with that sort of thing). I used to have money (was bundled with my old PC) but not sure if I bothered to back it up or not… I’ll look for ya

I’ve got MS Money, but the last time I even thought about using it I quickly found that I didn’t like the interface and didn’t like how it seemed to try to do everything online. I used MS Money 98 for a while and I liked it, but it seems to have gotten too Microsofty.

I’ll probably be OK with Ubuntu. I’ve used Mandrake often as my only OS with no problem since they were on like a 6.x distro. I’ve played with Red Hat. Just for kicks I even had Solaris running on my PC once. Got to the point where it booted up, I brought up the desktop, and said “OK cool it’s running. Umm…” Format.

So Microsoft Money is, well, Microsoft. That is to say it sucks balls. I tried to install it and set it up. All I want to do is track my accounts, enter transactions, maybe setup bill reminders. Just basic stuff to keep a hold of my finances. That’s what it’s for. The first thing you have to do is setup a windows live account. Then more online shit. Then more online shit. :bloated: Why do they need all this information and data transfer just so I can track my shit???

I downloaded this and it’s perfect:

Enter accounts, setup payees, track where my money goes, schedule repeating transactions. All the good shit, no BS. I’m happy. Now I have reason number 546878684 why Microsoft sucks.

nice…

i defiantly need to fix the income < outcome thing.
now that I know how to make babies, i can fix the finances.

(you know what the cure for nyphomania is right… its wedding cake  )
