Free Visio or Project Replacements?

I am going to be rebuilding my desktop and I was investigating the option not using MS Productivity applications. Obviously OO.org can fill my Powerpoint, Excel and Word needs. However I do actively use Visio and Project for various things and I am looking for free alternatives.

I know there is Dia but it is just is really lacking not to mention GTK2 in windows irritates me.

Any thoughts or suggestions from Nyspeeders.

Torrents as posted.

Thank you for you infinitely brilliant reply that did not answer my question. I have office 2007 enterprise already…

:picard:

“I was investigating the option not using MS Productivity applications.” That does imply I already have and use Office but would rather try my hand at free apps. I am quite familar with Demonoid the patron saint of warez and other torrent sites… and even newsgroups that was not the point of my post though.

TO be honest I tried this route and never found anything that comes close to the ability that MS has. Even if you do something, chances are vendors wont make “stencils” for it unless its a complete ripoff of a visio file.

never found any visio or project replacements and I am an avid open source user.

I tried using this a while back.
Was not as good as MS project, but then again…
I do not know how to really use either

Thats MS Project, not Visio.

Thats MS Project, not Visio. Shit.

Make Open Source Visio
Accept Donations
PROFIT

Also, for the normal user, visio seems like something that would be somewhat easy to make.

edit: ^ is probably not at all what I thought.

Dia is not even close to what visio can do.
