I just got an email from the guy I posted this for and he has dropped the asking price to $2900. That is a great price and I have already had 5 or 6 people PM me when the price was $3,900, and I have given everyone the seller’s info, but nobody has called him. This is a great price for a great car.
I’m posting this car for some friends of mine who are located in the Cranberry/Freedom Road area. If you are interested, please shoot me a PM and I will give you their contact information ASAP. Here’s the info and pics:
Here is the info that I got from them:
-1997 Honda Civic DX
-2-door Coupe
-164,000 miles
-Runs great
-Some minor dings on body, and 3 or 4 tiny dots of rust
-30 avg mpg in town, 35 mpg on long trips
-6-disc Honda CD changer in trunk
-Power NOTHING (5-speed, manual windows, manual locks, no power steering)
-The after-market sunroof is waterproof, but it doesn’t open.
-Safety & Emissions Inspection good til August of 2009
They are asking $3900EDIT: NOW ASKING PRICE IS $2,900, but let me know if you would like to make an offer and I will give you their info. Again, there is nothing wrong with the car, they just needed something bigger and are getting a CRV.
Also, as you can see, there is no rust on the rear quarters, which as you guys should know is pretty rare for this year civic. This would work great as a daily driver or a shell. You could probably part out what you don’t need and end up spending very little for a solid shell.
IMO the price is high, at least for Pittspeed. Even if you go with NADA, which I would argue is not realistic here, $3900 is a “Clean retail value,” which I don’t think anyone ever pays, even at a dealer. Also, having no power options means this car appeals to either the most frugal of buyers, or someone who wants it because it’s lighter than a power optioned car. The problem is that frugal buyers are inherently cheap, and someone who cares about lightweight is going to be pulling the car apart anyway, which means they are also looking for it on the cheap (and if they really care they are probably shopping for a hatch, not a coupe).
Drop the price a little and put it on craigslist - it’s “college car” time for parents.
