Other Information:

I purchased this car on November 16th, 2006 in a town outside of Syracuse, NY from the original owners, who were an older couple. The car was primarily driven by the wife, and as she was a stay at home mom, the car had 26,004 miles the day I purchased it. The car currently just passed the 89,000 mile mark. It has been primarily driven on country roads and on highways (most of my driving is done above 45mph) so there is very little city miles on this car. The car has been absolutely babied. Since I got it, it had completed an application of Auto-Rx (which allows for a switch to synthetic oil safely), has been using AMSOIL 5W-30 Synthetic motor oil, and the coolant was flushed and replaced with Toyota’s OEM coolant (which is one of the best out there as it has no unnecessary silicates among other things). The tranmission fluid was also drained and refilled and the pan was dropped and cleaned (magnets, filter, etc.). Here is a breakdown of what is “wrong” with the car.

  • There is a small ding on the rear passenger door (another door hit it). It is the size of a dime.
  • There is some rust on the underside of the hood (near the latch). I don’t think it is a huge concern as it has a LONG way to go (years) before it rusts through the hood.
  • The rocker panels, where the jack goes, is rusted slightly on both sides.
  • The back bumper needs to be repainted as the right side of it was repaired by the original owner using touch up paint. Not noticeable unless the car is clean and you are close up.
  • The car has a few light scratches due to it’s 10 years out exposed to the elements. None are deep and I would say all can be buffed out with minimal effort.

As you can see, there is almost nothing wrong with this car cosmetically. There are only a few other things on the car that don’t originally come with this year Maxima. They are the following:

  • It has a rear strut bar installed. This gives the car more stability in corners as the suspension stays more level, preventing excessive body lean/roll.
  • The car is originally california emissions equipped. However, the car has federal emissions stock headers, federal emissions stop y-pipe, stainless steel high-flow catalytic converter (Magnaflow), stainless steel b-pipe (Budget Inc.) installed, and a newer (2yr old) OEM 4th Gen. muffler. This means it will not rust through, resulting in an exhaust system that will last a very long time. The noise level as compared to factory exhaust is hardly changed and most people will not notice the difference.
  • I re-coated the underbody with rubberized undercoating, helping protect the bottom of the car from the harsh elements of a North Eastern winter and helping minimize some of the road noise that you might otherwise hear without any undercoating.

*** ALL of the work was done by ME on my own personal lift. I have NEVER been to the dealer for this car. It was babied and fixed with care and plenty of time. ***

Recent Maintenance (see Excel Spreadsheet):

  • New Knock Sensor
  • New Rear Valve Cover Gasket
  • New Gaskets between engine and headers
  • New Gaskets between headers and y-pipe
  • New O2 sensors (the one located near the intake manifold and one near the radiator)
  • New O2 Simulator (used to run the O2 sensors that were removed when going from Cali. Spec piping to Fed. Spec piping)
  • New Fuel Filter
  • Coolant drain/fill
  • New Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor
  • New Alternator
  • New Optima Red Top Battery

I think that is all that there is to say about the car. I will let the pictures do the rest of the talking.

Also, I have a bunch of spare Maxima parts I will throw in for free (maybe someone can have better luck selling them or use for them) and I also have a 2nd set of floor mats that could be used for the summer months (the mats in the car are a bit dirty due to many winters).

I can be contacted via PM and I check them many times a day so expect a timely reply. I’m trying to get rid of some debt, so I’m looking to downgrade to a ‘beater’ (Civic or something small) for a couple of months and then get something nice later on. I am upgrading to a newer model car and this is why I’m selling this car. As I have no backup car in case this DOES sell, I would expect the buyer to give me a couple of days to buy a running/driving beater.

nice condition. GL w/ sale.

Wow, this car looks really clean man.
G/L with the sale.

Thank you. I baby her like it’s my job.

If I didn’t have my prelude, this would be a great commuter car for me… I see in the description that it has tan leather seats, but I don’t see them in the pictures… did you upgrade or something?

Yes I did. Two months ago. Pics representing the car as it is today will be up tonight.

This car gets 20mpg in the city and 26 on the highway.

where is this car located?

It’s located south of Albany…but I…I won’t be able to part with it. Meaning, I am not selling it unless I get a RIDICULOUS offer.

what would you consider as a RIDICULOUS offer? KBB rates the car at $7240, which is what the banks value.

Well in the last week (after the posting of this thread)…the price has gone up considerably because I just installed some new toys (for security reasons, I won’t disclose them)…for the amount of money I’ve spent on these new toys, plus the time I took to install them, the car is more in the neighborhood of almost $9,500…but like I said…I am having serious doubts about wanting to sell this car because I really do love it…I work in IT so generally speaking I have a good salary and at the time of this posting I was considering getting an 08 TL-S, 08 G35x, or 09 Maxima…but I decided to hold off on my purchase and put my money elsewhere, including my new toys. Looking at getting a house soon.

Also, the car now gets 25mpg mixed driving (last two tanks)…so it’s great on gas…another reason why I’d rather keep it than get a new one.

First and foremost that’s an immaculate looking Maxima, very clean looking - I was always a fan of that body style maxima.

If you have intensions of getting an 08 g35x I have a feeling that you will regret it dearly, the 09 is coming out soon and it has the new redisgned body style + the 3.7 liter v6 with variable valve timing. I personally have driven an 08 g35x and think it’s an awesome car but from what I’ve heard and seen from the Infiniti website the G37 is going to be a big step up from the G35. I would always be frustrated if I spent 35k+ on a car and they came out with a new body style and new engine months later.

Car is back up for sale folks. This time it’s going, not changing my mind.

I plan on getting a 07 or 08 Infiniti M35 Sport or M35x in the spring. If I sell this before then, I’ll be sharing a car with my dad who doesn’t work in the winter.

BUMP!

Your car is super clean, but I think you’re asking way too much for a 10 year old car. I understand you have some money into it, but most car people can attest, it isn’t worth anything when you want to sell it. If I was looking at your car in it’s current condition, I’d offer you $5k and try and strike a deal from that.

Too each his own.

I am willing to sell the car with stock parts, but that’ll be around the book value (which is almost 6k). Only way I’d do around $5k is if the car was reverted back to bone stock. Age of the car doesn’t matter. I know cars that are fairly new, but due to lack of maintenance, are the biggest POS’s ever and then on the other side of the spectrum you have 1950 classics selling for a hundred grand. Too each his own I say.

I don’t care how the economy is doing, not everyone is broke. I’m not willing to settle for anything I can get…not in that much of a hurry.

Thanks for your post though.

Good luck with the sale, Ilya. The car looks very clean and well maintained. It should sell. I sold my Eclipse on autotrader.com Try posting it on there maybe as well?

If all else fails I’ll sell it on places such as autotrader. I’ll give the world of forums a month or two before I do that.

Thanks.

I tried that, I had it in the newspaper. I got some calls, but it was mainly people from WAY far. Im thinking they were just pricing out their own car. I put it on autotrader.com, bought the “run till it sells” package with unlimited text and photos and in 3-4 months it sold.

thinking like this will keep you keepin the car, sure its nice but its has problems also if ya put a afr controller on it and a lean code kicked up ya got bad wirirng or a botched job but good luck with that

I’ll have it fixed before the car is sold. From the sound of it, it might be my injectors. It has nothing to do with wiring or the AFR because I had the code WAY before (it was a pending code though). It’s probably just coincidental that the AFR was installed and shortly after the part that was keeping the car somewhat mixed correctly finally shit the bed.

Injectors have been ordered and are enroute.

i doubt its the injectors but go ahead and throw more money at it and still not be fixed ,take it to a shop and let it get fixed there trained better than you are not insultin ya but ya throwin parts at it and not even sure what it is
