Well they are an animal, if you dont clean their cage and its hot, then yes their cage might smell. However its never an overpowering odor, you would have to stick your face into the cage to smell anything at all. The Degu themselves are constantly grooming themselves/each other, and they love to roll around in dust baths. (their poo is really small too, very efficient digestion, and their diet consists almost entirely of fiber)

My friend had some a while back. We fed them some live mice once. There’s a reason your suppose to break the mice necks. Its so you don’t have to spend an hour cleaning up the mess the degus make. Lots of blood everywhere!

im pretty sure you have these confused with Tegu’s which are a carnivorous reptile…not Degu which are cuddly rodents.
