92 Subi wagon. was my winter ride last year, but I got a newer outback.
The good-
Starts, runs and drives pretty well. Brakes work, tires decent, steers well. Very reliable. Decent CD player. New oil pan, (and oil change) brakes, ft tires. No big oil leaks, engine sounds good, 150k, 5 speed, AWD! this thing rocks in the snow…Power windows, locks, etc. Clear title in my name.
The bad-
exhaust somewhat noisy,(all there though) rear window needs replaced (The was another legacy at M&M a while ago that had a good glass for like 50$ for the whole hatch.)
Needs Drivers CV joint- you may be able to repack it, it just started going and is dry from sitting all summer. Drivers rear tire needs a plug (has a visable screw in it) rusty exterior. the floors seem OK.
Put some TLC in her, and you have a great winter ride
I just put my 122K mile '94 L sedan on the road, same engine, trans and driveline as this. I can’t get over how solid the little thing is. And with a stick it gets out of it’s own way, despite only having 135 horses.
