fs/ft: 2000 audi a6 2.7T 6spd (broke a timing belt!)

the whole body is in good shape except for the trunk lid in 1 spot

there are 2 transmissions - 1 is broken and off the car, the other is good low-mileage and IS installed in the car (need to finish install)

broke a timing belt @ idle because it was installed by a mechanic wrong, don’t know how much damage there is - but figure, at least a few bent exhaust valves?

interior is in good shape

car has a heavy duty control arm kit installed (bought from PureMS) - and never tires, though it has been sitting in the same place for a couple of years now … but tires still hold air

car has clean title

just over 120k miles - and I put last 70k on it - and I know how everyone says “highway miles” - probably 85% of the miles I put on were on highway

make me an offer if you are interested - would like somewhere in the $2k range?

would trade for a decent running E30, or MK1 GTi or Rabbit (MUST run and MUST be able to be daily driven … though not looking for anything “special”)

if you want to work something out - let me know, not looking to give the car away, I could part it piece by piece and make WAY more $$$ then $2k

could be a good 4.2L V8 swap car, or now would be a good time to build up a 2.7T to a 3.0L and bigger turbo’s

pics form when the car was bought and trunk lid damage are here: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/587312

Keep in mind, it does not run, it needs work, and you would have to pick it up with a truck or something, I don’t think dolly would work.

If you have some thing you think might interest me in a trade - don’t be scared to offer it. Looking for a good german DD. This thing is just taking up space that I want to use for my 944 in winter. But we are not looking to give the car away for nothing.

All in all, I’ll just part the thing.

Thanks!

unless i missed it where is the car loacted? when the belt broke, did you know right away what happened or did you try to start the car again?

didn’t know it was the belt at first, called a different Audi mechanic, he came over and tried a few different things to start it, and it didn’t, took the front apart - car sits now with front end open (support, lights, bumpers etc are all off already) - and put a new belt on, tried to turn it over and it wouldn’t … maybe it’s not all that bad? don’t know

and I forgot to include the location - car is in Rochester - in Webster

available to look at pretty much any time

if no one wants it, eventually I may get to opening it up and looking inside, but if there is someone interested, then we’ll sell it

that’s why I said that we aren’t really looking to get rid of it badly or anything, nothing is forcing us to sell it or anything, it set for about 3 years now though, so if there is interest - we’ll sell/trade it, if not, then we don’t really care if it sits a while longer and maybe I’ll finally get to work on it (now that my 944 is back where it should be)

forwarded info to my buddy.

why didnt the mechanic who fucked up fix this free of charge?

again, it’s a very long story, if you are interested, I’ll be glad to tell you more once you are here looking at the car with the $$$ in your hands … rather then take this out to the internet

Broken Timing Belt is probably more complex than bent exhaust valves… Head might be trashed.

Do you have any pictures? i might be interested…a little more information would help also
what color is the exterior/interior.

gotta read the whole post. lol. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/587312

LOL!@ dam i hate when they are hidden!! haha

i dont want teh car at all i was just curious

that was more of an FIY if someone else had a similar question

and yeah those are the pics, car really hasn’t changed since then, just dusty and would need a nice cleaning, and the front end is completely off

and hey, if there isn’t any interest, I just may keep it and try to get a 4.2L V8 in there, would be fun with a 6-speed

you might want to read up on the 4.2L Swap into a 2.7T/2.8 Body…from what i know it wont fit. two different front end engine compartment size on the 4.2L. Maybe im wrong but you wont have a 4.2L in this unless it goes throught extensive modification. you might as well buy a stock 4.2L with the amount you might drop into it to finish it
Get a motor [there is a local salvage yard that has a 2.7T complete motor for $1500] i would say that is your best bet.

I thought it was just a wide body kit on the 4.2L A6’s from the factory. I would have never guessed the engine compartment would be changed. I could figure the subframe would be changed, but it would seem silly to have a different engine compartment.

it fits in the A4’s form the same year and newer

I’ll have to read up, I’m in no hurry

also, with these used engines, I might as well open it up and get the heads rebuild - you will never know what you are buying - I know what I have here, I know how I have treated

the biggest problem why I don’t want to fix it myself, is that new turbo’s (K04 upgrade) will run around $2700 with hardware + heads and whatever else that might be potentially damaged

120k miles on stock K03’s is good milage, I’d hate to put it all together and have the turbo’s go in 10k

so … if someone is interested, but doesn’t has the $$$ or whatever - doesn’t matter, I’ll bump this up every now and then - car’s AWD systema always worked great and never gave me any issues … again, I drove it for last 70k+ miles w/o any issues until the belt went …

bump - I was OK’d to come down on the price a few hundred, so more flexible with pricing now … let me know if you are still interested

you gotta do way better than a few hundred in this place

i got a couple of hundreds ($400) to be exact.

its on a few “local” upstate forums, hopefully it will go away so I can buy the “other” 944 project
