FS: GT28RS - Single or Pair

Okay okay okay. Here it is. I have one GT28RS with a 0.64 AR turbine housing. This is dealer pricing, brand new. Only reason I’m selling them is cause I decided to go bigger. I had a pair but sold one today.

So here’s the deal. I’ll not only sell you this turbo, but I’ll also help you put it in your car assuming it is in the warmth, in a reasonable distance away from my house in the GTA, and help to “tune” it for optimal power. There’s been a few people on this board that I’ve helped with their car and they can vouch for my work. My car is available for display to see the work I have done and I have a good bunch of technical posts on this board. I can diagnose it, I can fix it, and I can make it faster all while telling you every last detail on how it works and why it was done that way.

Specs on the turbo:

Compressor (Cold Side)

  • 0.63 A/R Housing
  • 62 Trim
  • 47.2mm Inducer
  • 60.0mm Exducer

Turbine (Hot Side)

  • 0.64 A/R Housing
  • 76 Trim
  • 53.8mm Inducer
  • 47.0mm Exducer

Dual Ball Bearing Centre Section

Each turbo is almost identical to the HKS2530.

Onto the pics:

Price is $600. I’ll also throw in a stainless steel oil feed line.

Give me a call. 416-358-0230 or email me at pcproa@hotmail.com

Thanks,

Patrick

patrick, what brand are they?? hp range?? what applications they’ll fit?

vlad this would wake ur car up

They are Chinaturbos. They can do consistent numbers in the 300whp - 350whp range per turbo, so almost 700whp for the pair on Race Gas and supporting mods. They have the T25/T28 Turbine housing turbo inlet flange, so it has the correct flange to bolt up to your CA18DET, along with the SR20DET, most KA24DETs, VG30DETT, RB20DET, RB26DETT, etc etc. They were made as exact replicas of the Garrett GT28RS, with the same critical tolerances.

The 0.64AR Turbine housing is ideal for small displacement motors up to about 1.8L for quick spool in the lower RPMs. My car is 1.5L per side, thus the reason for two turbos. RB26DETT is 1.3L per turbo so it is good there as well.

These things look sad sitting on the floor here.
Make me an offer.

This is a direct bolt on to all sr’s? like a gtir? what supporting mods would i need? or is it possible to run this on a stock motor?

Yes

Yes. In both applications you will have to do some minor trimming of the heat shields if you intend on using the stock manifolds.

A set of higher flowing fuel injectors are always recommended when increasing the volume of air entering the intake tract. Less fuel usually means more chances for detonation. If your fuel pump is up to the task, then injectors should be upgraded.

Yes it is possible but not recommended. You should always at least upgrade your fuel system by increasing the size of the injectors. A band-aid solution would be to increase the fuel pressure by means of adjustable FPR, but it is not a consistent and reliable change to keep you out of the detonation happy zones.

Thanks, i will look into my fueling and get back to you when im ready to purchase.

No problem. PM me when you’re ready.
I packed the Stainless Steel Oil feed lines with each turbo cause I’ve bought alright bigger turbos as well as everything that I need to install it.

PS. I will be buying injectors for my build soon from

BUMP. Sold one today so one more left.

damn

as much as i want that last one i just dont know if trust them :S

What are we building Patrick?

I see you’ve become quite the TT tuner since we last met. I could sure use your expertise to dial in my new build. Are you able to fine tune my A/F on my Apexi NEO?

^^ do you have a wideband o2 set-up?

if you have it dialed in enough to be driving and you have a wideband fine tuning it shouldnt be too difficult

i can explain more to you on saturday if you like.

People that really know the turbo know that they are good for the price. Everyone seems to think that things that come straight from China are junk and the genuine Garrett is amazing. In general, turbos are nothing without proper Quality Control during production and these have a lot of it. I’ve seen more Garrett turbos blow up lately than I’d like to admit.

Setup similar to yours. Goal is 650whp on pump fuel but I really expect to land 600whp. I’ve always been the TT tuner, just never really had the time before to really work on this. This summer I’m going all out on this though so I can move onto different things next year.

Lemme know when you want to tune your car a little more. I’ve never used the Neo but I head it is very similar to the SAFCII. I was a split second away from picking up one for $230, but ended up going with a used SAFCII Anniversary addition for a nice stealth black look. I’m focusing on my ECU though. I bought a Nistune so I can control every aspect of the map and thing outside the box when tuning.

you may be totally right, however ive never had a genuine garrett and china version side by side

im just juding my opinion on research from the web, which in most cases shows that the china versions are more likly to fail faster.

hmmmm, well this is what I’ve seen. All failure rate in a span of 10,000KM

10 Garrett turbos used - 4 Failed for various different reasons
10 China turbos used - 2 Failed for various different reasons

They were all GT28RS turbos.

I can’t really use these as a valid comparison though because these were all in completely different vehicles, they all have different drivers and they are all treated different ways, but usually if you see a turbo live past 10,000KM, it’ll usually live fine till a 100,000KM and beyond.

Reason you see more China Turbo failures is because people usually look out just for the China Turbo reliability issues whereas, the Garrett ones are usually assumed to be good. Secondly, China turbo owners are vocal about it because they try to return it for warranty and they get pissed off, so they spread the word on the net. Garrett has better warranty. I’ve spoken to a few guys before buying these that say they love their China turbos, only because they followed the proper break in procedure and made sure the installation was proper.

One thing that definately is a mixed bag though, is the Warranty associated with most China Turbo vendors. Horrible mixed emotions where the Garretts are usually just replaced in a quick manner in their warranty term.

BUMP. One left guys.
The guy that bought the last one loves it on his 2003 Jetta 1.8T engine. Said his car pulls like no other now. He uses it as a daily driver and has had it on his car for about 2 weeks now. I keep checking up on him for reliability and he said it seems strong as day one. He pushes the car hard about 20% of the time, but he really just likes to cruise with that extra bit of power on tap.
