1989 all re-done KX 500.
It’s an 89. Engine wise, I did a leakdown and compression test and
found that all to be good, but it had clutch issues, so I went in there
and found someone had put the wrong hub to basket spacers in it.
Replaced them, then put in new disks since I had it open. New stator
plate and updated pickups, and ignition coil to give it better spark…
hoping to make it start easier for me. The rest is basically cosmetic:
I sandblasted the frame and swingarm, repainted with Centari urethane.
New fenders and graphics, new seat cover (should have that on today).
I’d be willing to take a smaller bike plus cash on trade. I had an 87
KX5 a few years ago that was detuned, different jetting, weighted
flywheel, and it was “enough” for me… this one is crazy, though… I
must be gettin’ old!
