usually you’re supposed to use an SOHC maf and just rewire a different plug. No biggy really.
I think he is refering to the S14 VVT motor, this one requires a Z32 maf I believe (in conjunction with a SAFC), or the original MAF from the Silvia.

He’s right, and wrong…
S14 SR’s require a S14 SR MAF (ie. SOHC KA, or S13 SR MAF will not work). However if you don’t have a S14 SR MAF, then your choices are many… Z32, Q45, Cobra or MAP or…? But all require ECU mods or standalone, or piggyback.

from what many people have told me, a SOHC or an s13 sr20det maf with a variable resistor works perfectly with the s14 sr20det…tons of guys in the states are also using this setup…and getting a maf for an s13 sr20det engine is very very very simple…so i dunno why you would type

Sasha was running a S14 VVT motor on a SOHC KA24E MAF with no problems at all.
I trust people who actually have the motor and the setup more than people who dont have any of it.

I’m sure you could make just about any Nissan MAF work no problem at all, doesn’t mean it really works correctly, ie. is supplying the correct signal to the ECU at any given time. Which is what the MAF is supposed to do after all.
