Description:
Price is just for the ball python.
Yearling male (never sexed, but I believe it is a male). Was rescued from a friend whom fed it seldomly. I’ve had him for about 6 months now and he is growing like a weed. Needless to say he is small for his age, but his calm temperment and great personality more than make up for any short comings you may find. Wonderful pattern, almost a black-back, has a stripe going down the length of it’s back and has a clear belly. Like him more than my own snake, however since I’m moving I won’t have space for this one. I’d love to see him go to a good home.
For those that don’t know, Ball Pythons are up there with corn snakes in ease of care. Definitely a great begginer snake, doesn’t need a lot of space (can be housed in a 20-30gal when full grown) doesn’t bite and easy to handle. Out of the reptiles I own, snakes are the easiest to take care of. For what it’s worth, I’m definitely more experienced than your average keeper of reptiles, but no expert.
In sight of a few questions I’ve received, care is as follows:
Daily
Daily water change
Spot cleaning (if there’s poop, clean it up)
Keep the UTH plugged in so the snake gets it’s belly heat, though if you can, keep temps in the room up, a heat lamp could help in this, but my reptile room is warm all year round so I needn’t worry about a heatlamp.
Weekly
Weekly feeding, this one here takes a rat pup or adult mouse. Depending on where you get it, food is $2-$5 per week. Live as of now, haven’t managed to switch him over to frozen/thawed yet. But his feeding response is great, so it shouldn’t be too hard.
When in shed, mist tank, or just put him in a damp pillowcase for a few minutes.
Irregularly
Change substrate every month (2 if you spot clean regularly) a bail of aspen shaving is like $12 bucks at wal-mart, and will last the better part of a year.
When you’re changing the substrate, dis-infect the tank, this can be done numerous ways, but I prefer to use a 2:1 solution of water to vinegar. Avoid any noxious chemicals.
Please contact me for more info, and questions and pictures.
Price is for just snake alone.
Can include 10gal with screen lid & UTH for $140. Which is the cost of this snake at a pet store alone. Great way to get started in the hobby.
