This was towards this whole thread, read it for the first time this morning. The elevator thing was just some kids messing around, that I understand…I was once a kid too.

I’m a strong believer that things aren’t getting worse- it’s more that everyone has a camcorder in their pocket at all times. I remember lots of fist fights in my high school, and I grew up in the suburbs. None of them made it to youtube though.

what day and what time did this go down with the escalator stunt?
When I lived in Buffalo, I would grab lunch at the Galleria during the work day, and there would be groups of kids roaming around, not shopping just roaming around bored looking to cause trouble.
Looks like nothing has changed.
Cheektowaga, NY (WBEN) Cheektowaga Police say four young men will not face charges for an escalator stunt at Walden Galleria, but they will not be welcome for the next year.
Assistant Chief Jim Speyer says the teen being carried up the escalator was quickly spotted after video was posted online, and the teen’s parents came forward. “His parents brought the young man in, they apologized, they were very concerned,” says Speyer, who adds the young man only had some soreness as a result of the stunt. “They understood how serious it could’ve been had this young man fallen the wrong way,” says Speyer.
Speyer says the four have been banned from the Galleria for one year, which is standard procedure for someone thrown out of the mall. But the four won’t be charged. “We looked at the entire incident and found this was a prank. No one else was around, no one else in danger. No one was injured as a result, so we felt in was best for everyone not to give young men a record and just advised him. The young man was very sorry for what he did, the parents came out and told us exactly what happened. That was responsible of everybody,” says Speyer.
Speyer estimates the fall at about 20 feet.

20 feet is really no joke. I think that is a bit of an over estimate though.
