Garage Find: 1983 RX-7

Up for sale as a whole or for parts is a 1983 RX-7.

Here’s a little history on how this came to surface:

A house was purchased that was once home to a hoarder. Every room, including the garage, was piled floor to ceiling with god knows what. Clothes, toys, electronics, garbage; Take the flea market and stuff it into a shed. That’s about how it looked.

Long story short, to sell the house or even acquire tenants, the house needed to be cleaned out (goes without saying). And in the process of doing so, the garage appeared to be housing a vehicle of some sort.

After cleaning it out, the RX-7 was discovered.

Only has 69k on the odometer.

To my amazement, I found the salvage :tif: title in the glove box, and was also able to find keys.

No idea if the car runs or not, but I’m assuming its a no. The plugs have been out of the motor for god knows how long, and we all know how super rotaries are.

Having a ‘project’ like this one is and always will be a dream of mine, but this is something that’s going to take a lot of time, which I currently don’t have.

So, instead of junking the car, somebody make me an offer. Or we can at least set up a time for you to come check it out.

Otherwise, you folks may see this on the road next summer. A project is a project, and I’m determined.

Someone really needs to dump an LS_ into this!

see if it turns over, if not put a teaspoon of ATF in the trailing spark plug holes, let it sit overnight. Try and bump it over.

if it frees up try and start it, if it doesn’t take the plugs out and put a teaspoon of motor oil in it and turn it over a few times, it should create a good enough seal between the apex seals and housing to create good enough compression to start.

Are you selling any of the stuff you find inside? If there are any old toys/bar stuff/antiques I would be more then willing to meet you and buy some stuff off of you!

I don’t think the salvage title will be a big deal for a car that old. Anyone looking for a project RX7 is probably going to know what to look for in terms of previous body repairs and whatnot.

I collect old junk too. Vintage car-related stuff, mid-century furniture and lamps, beer/soda advertising stuff, etc. I’ve climbed piles in a hoarder’s place before, and did find cars in that one too.
