that garage is tiny. 13x19.5? put the workbench at the very back wall to keep some width up front.
my parents had a garage like that before they knocked down and built their current one.
The work area used to be in the far back, just behind the length of a car.
so that way cars could still be pulled in, and then have area to work behind them.
are you trying to build an add on and wondering where to put it?
or just input on where to put it in your existing garage?
just trying to figure out the best way to work with what i got now.
Do you still want to use it as a garage?
Go to lowes/home depot buy a laminate countertop i believe its like $150 max its like 28inx10ft. put it up agianst the back wall.
You can still drive your car in and park it in there and still function as a garage with a work bench
Pretty much the size of my garage, I have the workbench and shelving on the back wall, and use cabinets on the side walls. I have a civic on dollys on one side with enough room to put my other civic next to it. I can have my bike between the cars if I get outta the car dukes of hazzard style.
here is what i got…
i am still working on it, i am looking for ways that best use space so if you have ideas please help, ie. where to put a bench, shelving…
before
after
painted the outside to match my brick house better, bc the white wasnt working! and will be coating the floor with the epoxy and adding a red stripe to the walls to add depth and break up the Grey.
nice. id say if there enough room, i would put a bench in the rear wall with storage on the bottom and cabinets on top like a kitchen.
If you make a bench, make it mobile. In a small garage your going to regret if you fix a bench to the wall and you need to that space in the winter.
Yeah, when you are looking at something space limited like that, try and make sure a lot of your lower stuff is mobile. Your tool box, and a bench should be mobile for working on things where you need more space.
If it were my garage, i would find cabinets/shelves, and mount those across the upper back. I would them probably make a bench similar to the one that Newman made, and have that in the back. I would probably make a smaller one that just slid underneath that one, and that was on wheels that you could use to roll out into the center of the floor.
On the sides, i would probably have a shelf hung about the height of a normal plastic tote down from the rafters, and the rest open under it. I would place the bike in the front left corner as you are looking in, and hopefully be able to get a car in it also. Anything else that needed side storage should go on the left, and leave the right open so you can park your car close to it to maximize your getting in and out of it.
I would also probably move that metal shelf to the left side, or your basement, as trying to work around it when fitting things will make life more difficult. Just use built in shelving. to make things easier.
