Spent a few hours today organizing and cleaning and decided to build my bench that I have been thinking about.
I made it from 8’ 2x6’s. It’s sturdy as hell and is the full 8’ length.

Put a coat of varnish on there, it will last forever.
Our workbenches are almost identical. We just ran a 2 x 6 from front to back legs on the flat and mounted wheels.
I thought about wheels but I don’t need to move it, just yet anyways. I put it to use last night changing out bogey wheel bearings, exhaust valve gaskets and new sliders. I’m hoping all of my work on the sled won’t be a waste this year.
I went a similar route when I did mine. I suggest a sheet metal cover over your work area as th wood will just get chewed up or go in between the cracks.
^ That’s a bit overkill to hold a funnel…
