Gasoline from... Air?

Wat? I’m open to the idea but exactly how much energy is required for this?

My immediate response is that there is no way whatsoever that system if it works has received any of the permitting or NYS BS required to install it anywhere in NY let alone NYC.

I would be interested in what exotic material is required that gets reformed into hydrocarbons. I have not looked into it though. Don’t forget, water can power cars too eh.

edit:
Nothing special there. CO2 and H2 make methanol.
Methanol gets converted to synthetic gasoline using a catalyst.

The issue is power. Electrolysis to get H2 is almost never cost effective. Lots of Government money is spent trying to improve the hardware, but a major step change is needed.

Lots of people in on the grift using the same technology but with different spins.

I bet there is even a company out there that will take that synthetic fuel and convert it to electricity using fuel cells.

If not, Who wants to start one? Maybe we can connect the two systems and add thousands of solar panels to make up the difference. Perpetual green energy production AND consumption. Zero benefit,

yea and by the time we have enough surplus energy to make this plausible some other advancement in battery tech will make the need for gasoline completely obsolete
