Well finally the weather stopped pissing all over us. This was a fun car to clean up. I always enjoy the ones that take a little more effort. The sti was given a one step polish and seal. I was shooting to get at least 80% correction with just the one step.
Here she is as i first showed up. It was filthy. The rims were caked in brake dust and grime. The Paint had a orange tint from all the iron deposits. Also alot of road grime was present.
Some bird bomb were present. They did leave some light etching of the clear.
The rims were bad. Far from the factory gold.
Here are a few more of the car before any work has been started.
Lots of dead bugs
Almost looks like it has black wheels from this angle
Lots of road grime.
Well first order was to start on the rims. They were cleaned three separate times using a few different cleaner and brushes.
Here is on the first go around, Scrubbing the barrels with the Daytona speed brush. Look at the grime and brake dust running out of the wheel.
After the wheels received three separate scrubbing’s it was time to start the decontamination of the paint.
The car was given a very good washing. I then Used a new product that is made to eliminate iron particles from the paint. This is a clear liquid, but once it reacts with the iron particles it turns purple to show its working.
The car was sprayed a section at a time, then thoroughly rinsed off. The wheels also were given this step on top of the scrubbing’s.
As you can see from the pictures, their was a whole ton of iron deposits on the car. Just look at the paint turning purple.
Their was only a little iron left on the rims after the cleanning
Now that the car was all rinsed. I then clay barred it with a medium grad clay to pull any contamination that was left on the paint off. Including some over spray that was on the hood.
Here is the condition of the paint after it was completely clean. You can see all the swirl marks that were showing up.
A lot of swirls and holograms covered the hood.
Passenger side door
Here is a 50/50 of the test spot i did.
Here is a photo of the hood after the polishing, and the sealant curing on the paint. That is the slight haze.
The paint has its depth and gloss back.
Another sun shot
Here are the after photos. Today was a long day so the after photos were quick. Geoff said he is gonna take some more.
You can see the paint reflecting the sealant bottle
All the trim also had a protectant applied to it. This was my second car of today so the photos were rushed. I just wanted to get it done before i ran out of daylight. It was a fun car to clean up, The paint corrected well. Thanks for looking
