getting a loan/payments

is it possible to get a car loan with bad credit without getting fucked over?

yeah, it is…at 14% interest

try buying a car you can afford

Yes. Just get a co-signer. Banks usually have really low rates for car loans vs. personal loans, despite your credit.

Start by reading this thread.

bad credit = higher interest rate /= getting fucked over. It means you pay for your own financial mis-handling and get what you deserve.

FYI: if you are ever a co signer on a loan…you are RETARDED.

Why?

when the primary stops paying, your stuck with the payments or your credit downs down the shitter too

my credit score is 570 i owe around $1100 for a credit card that went to a collection agency…im trying to figure out if my credit would go up/how much it would go up if i paid that off

Well obviously I know this, but why would anyone in their right mind co-sign a loan for someone who isn’t trusted/responsible/blah.

Edit: Your CC is in a collection agency? Fucking pay that shit. Like $40 a month is sufficient enough for them to remove it off your credit. That is your own fault.

Pay that off before doing anything else. That’s a huge scar on your score.

shit happens. can you imagine how many ppls credit went into the shitter with the recession and all the job losses? you never know. Hell someone could die and even if you turn that car in, the finance company will want the money that they missed out on from the loan and the depreication(sp) of the vehicle.

ok im going to call them and see if i can just give them like half or just make payments

i co-signed the wife’s one student loan. it saved a bunch of intrest, and besides, she makes more than me… lol.

get something in writing that says once its paid off, they will drop it from your credit report. if not it can stay on your report for 7 years even after its paid. barter with them. I will pay half and/or setup payments and once its paid in full, they will drop it from your report

go here

and stay off the phone, never talk to a collection agency, everything in writing. If the card already went to collections then paying it off will do little to nothing to your score.

search first. I guarantee you it has already been asked several times

Identity theft?

x2

Live within your means. Don’t help those that do NOT live within their means. They have bad credit for a reason, and they will end up damaging your credit through their continued irresponsibility. Let them suffer consequence and hopefully learn the lesson about debt.

GOD I hate consumer credit. It’s just the most idiotic thing when you really think about it. LOL, like a rent a center…you pay $2,000+ for a $700 fridge by the time you’re done paying. LMAO.

If someone has bad credit it is for a reason. They aren’t responsible…even if that’s your mother, father, brother etc… So saying only co-sign for someone with bad credit if you trust them and they are responsible is kind of an oxymoron.

For the record, I had a Chapter 7 seven years ago and have rebuilt my credit back to a very nice level. This month in fact…is when I’ll be paroled so to speak, so my score should jump even higher. I’m not saying that everyone with bad credit is an idiot for life, just that they make bad financial decisions. The key is learning from your mistakes and understanding what money and debt are. I had NO co-signers along the way to rebuilding my credit. I did take some higher interest loans to help speed up recovery. I would NEVER risk my credit score to help someone that has proven to be financially illiterate, family or otherwise. They must learn the lesson of debt and income management on their own or it won’t stick.

Not true. Most parents end up cosigning for their kids first loan not because the kid has a history if irresponsible borrowing but because they have no history of borrowing. A parent should know if their child is responsible enough to have the means to repay the loan, but at the same time be aware that any debt the child takes on they will be responsible for should the parent cosign.
