Glass bottle milk anywhere?

I was just talking about this with a guy at work today…

The UNI-Mart on NFB (near sheridan) (now a NOCO) used to have glass half gallons of milk (about 10 years ago)…

I remember that you had to pay a deposit on the bottle…

The milk tasted much better than the gallons out of the plastic bottle.

Anybody know of a place locally to get the milk in a glass bottle?

I’m sitting here drinking out of an Aldi’s gallon plastic jug, and the milk is absolutely terrible and I just bought it. First time I’ve bought milk at Aldi, and the last.

I think Dash’s has it

Yep go to Dash’s

well there’s your problem right there.

Aldi’s is good for some stuff but most is what it is

Byrne Dairy has them, if there is a local one.

+1, we buy a few things from there, but it’s basically a gamble on anything, lowest prices yes and lowest quality food as well. I’m not surprised the milk tastes like shit.

afaik, Aldi sells the same brand as tops

I thought all milk was the same?

Hoover Dairy delivers glass I believe.

Budweys and Dash’s are by far the best bang for your buck for everything. Ever since the one time i got a box of raisin bran from Aldi’s and it was full of carpenter ants sealed in the bag.

same brand yes. same quality of same brand no.

thats pretty nasty

for central ny, they are the only wholesale supplier of glass jugs

Glass milk tastes more natural but I also find it goes bad quicker and is affected by light!

Cardboard and plastic… always a toss up as well. I am really curious what the #1 choice would be if all three were placed in from of 10,000 people.

My dad will only buy milk in the glass jugs and i agree with him its 10x better/fresher!

He goes to the reservation every sat for bottled milk and gas… I’ll find out where he goes

FYI they also have bottled chocolate milk, orange juice and EGG NOG!!!

Lexington Co-op

I wonder what the actual difference in the milk is? my initial guess is there is none at this point, but the glass makes the milk colder than keeping it in plastic. maybe it was non-pasteurized in the past?

:banghead:

please share your wisdom oh wise one? (and just in case you’re stupid I obviously mean keeps it colder for longer once it’s out of the refrigerator)

anyone know if these places still sell the milk in glass?

The only difference between glass bottle milk and carton/jug milk is the shelf life (different pasteurization process) and Aldi’s milks is the same as Top’s milk and the same as Wegmans milk. It may be a different dairy but 1% milk is 1% milk, there aren’t multiple grades of a certain milk unless you’re buying organic/smart balance/modified garbage.

A good percentage of commercial milk is actually puss. I bet aldis has the most puss per gallon

I used to deliver to a milk farm frequently. I don’t drink milk anymore
