General Motors has halted the sale of most of the Chevrolet Cruzes now on dealer lots. The Cruze is GM’s best selling car model in the United States, and is also widely distributed internationally.
Spokesman Alan Adler confirmed that the automaker has ordered a halt to sales of models with the 1.4-liter turbo engine, the most popular version of the compact car. Adler did not know the reason for the halt, and said there has not been a recall issued on cars already sold.
:wtf
Nothing screams confidence in a vehicle like “OMG, STOP DELIVERING THEM IMMEDIATELY… but we can’t tell you why”.
LOL^
I would love to watch a poor salesman trying to explain this one to a prospective Cruze buyer since they’re telling dealers they can keep selling them they just can’t deliver them.
“Alright folks, now that we’ve agreed on price there’s just one little detail. You can’t have the car. I’m sure it’s nothing major but GM told us under no circumstances let anyone drive one off the lot. Folks, where are you going? Wait, come back, please. Old Gil’s gotta eat this week”.
Key/ignition? Maybe that was only Saturn.
Maybe they got confused and thought they were selling Porsche GT3s?

from what i understand its a fire issue
Doesn’t surprise me, I’ve had my car smoking after beating it like it owed me money. That little turbo gets toasty!
Isn’t there only like one company that makes all axles/CV joints? I don’t know, I heard that years ago.
The Cruze can still be delivered, it is a few Cruzes that had a certain build date.
Seriously though… Doesn’t a recall of this size just crush the profits on they made on this car? “Welp, 170,000 sold x that many axle shafts…”

the continued cost of planned obsolesence.
this all makes me really happy
Too big to fail, too entitled to succeed?
