GM's new Performance Engine Lineup

that’s what i’m sayin lol everyone rides his nuts like he started this shit…he just took credit for other ideas.

so sorry Captain DSM! :rolleyes:

Dave Buschur > you

Sure they do. What about the Aztek? :stick: :smiley:

yeah that’s right…just poointing out where u were wrong…again

its all good. I know theres not too much to do on those lonely nights in Slate Lick besides sit on the internet and read all about who ran what in the mid 1980’s so as to be able to correct people on internet chat boards. Keep up the good work! :hsugh:

believe it or not, thats not a photochopped GTO

well i hope you r right. everything i have ben hearing is that Dave Hill (chief corvete engineer) has been hinting that they are “shooting” for 500 hp and aren’t quite there yet. so i guess we’ll see. 525 would be nice though :bigok:

GM almost has to at this point. With the Viper at 500hp, the GT at 500hp+, The SRT10 truck at 500hp, if Gm doesn’t get on the ball people are gona start shoping elseware for performance.

i agree. but i read an interiew and GM was claiming that the current Z06 is already a better track car than the current Viper (i dunno thats a toss-up). they said theit goal is road-race handling and a good power to weight ratio, not necisarily pure power. we’ll see.

what gm doesn’t understand is that there is more to a successful car than just a nice engine. That’s where they went wrong with the camaro and fireturd. They need to take a lesson from the mustang, but they are too stupid to realize this

I cant believe I didnt read this thread earlier… I grew up with 69 camaros! Blue is right, back in the day the Z28 was the speed package, my dad has 2 twin 69 camaros, one Z28, one SS, both hugger orange, one with white racing stripes, both coupes / 4 speeds. The Z28 actually has a bigger cam in it over the SS im pretty sure there were some more differences such as the center consol, gauges, etc… the Z also had a tach, the SS does not. They are both full restorations done perfectly down to the clips, I can post pics if interested. He also has 2 more 69 camaros awaiting restoration as he just finished a 66 Vette w/ 427 4 speed. The one 69 camaro is a COPO car w/ factory 427 4 speed & the other is just a 69 Z28 that needs minor restoration, he is going to put the biggest GM crate engine you can get, I forget what number it is, with a Linco (lightning rod transmission) Transmission, should be FUN… ill post pics if anyone is interested… or i can start a new thread about it

question…I don’t know anyhting about LS’s…so

I asume the LS2 is the new LS1 and the LS5 or LS7 is the New LS6 right??

well how come the LS2 is going into the CTS-V when the current one has the LS6?? maybe it won’t fit??

huh?

LS1 and LS6 are being phased out after 2004. Sort’ve like how the LS1 replaced the LT1, and the LS6 replaced the LT4

LT1/LT4 = Gen II Small Block
LS1/LS6 = Gen III Small Block
LS2/LS5/LS7 = Gen IV Small Block

thanks for the info

but what i ment was … the LS6 > LS1
and the current CTS-V has the LS6

so how come the new CTS-V is getting the LS2 which seems to be the lesser of the 3 motors

LS1 = 350hp
LS2 = 400hp
LS6 = 400hp (in the CTS-V)

see my point? theyre replacing the 400hp LS6 thats in the CTS-V now with the 400hp LS2. Lesser on the tottom pole, but same power/torque

Theyre not making the LS1 and LS6 for the 2005 models, it’s now a discontinued engine.

I understand…but you’d think they would try to step it up…but i remember reading about drivetrain issues with the CTS-V…so it might have problems with more HP

Post them up Mark
