God shining down on ma new(2004) rig

Yeah, the vacuum pump runs it. My front hub was $140. 4WD works again. I did all the other stuff a couple years ago. Not hard to do…if you want to get your skirt dirty.

Yeah the guy charged me for 8 hours with an uber cheap rate. He spent a bunch of time trying to figure it out. The people he was getting advice from we’re telling him to replace tons of expensive parts but he wanted to figure it out and do it the proper way. At least that is what he told me.

Here is the old beast next to a coworker’s brand new Mini.

That Mini looks like your truck just pooped it out the tailpipe.

I was rolling coal, when the cloud cleared that Mini appeared. Weird.

A couples pics of my new wheels… Tires… Lug nuts… Rotors… Pads… Calipers.

So I took the truck to the stealership for a couple of items. I needed a couple of back up sensors, center console display, rear window lube, oil change and leak. The oil leak ended up just being the plug. They charged me $26.99 labor to change the plug… keep in mind I also got an oil change. LOL
Total damage $1029.00!!! Yeah, German cars are expensive to own. :eyeroll:

Everytime I look at these damn trucks, I get really excited by their potential to be cool and useful for me as a tow vehicle. Then I get completely petrified of the repair bills.

Question: If you have not towed anything since your last oil change do you really need to replace 15 quarts of synthetic oil in less than 10,000 miles? How bad can it be?

send an oil analysis in to blackstone and have the experts tell you.

It would appear that god has chosen your rig to keep the dealership in business.

Are you asking if you need to change the oil within 10,000 miles or have you burned 15 quarts? My experience on the forums is that you don’t mess around with service intervals on oil changes. I think there’s too many oil related issues that can arise from poor maintenance. Peace of mind.

I have changed the oil in less than 4000 miles. I have read that you should change the oil religiously too but it is just hard to imagine that 15 quarts of oil could get dirty that fast. That is a large amount of oil but at the same time it is a large amount of mass to move.

Changing too frequently is not good either

I used to do mine every 5-6K. Not that at mattered. Still dropped a roller lifter.

Problem is you went to the stealership in the first place!

I just do 5k mile oil and 10k fuel filter changes no matter what… Cheap insurance. I put 22k miles on my truck since March… ugh. that’s lots o diesel fuel.

Please explain.

$$$$

I was just thinking, all of my vehicles take between 8 and 15 quarts of oil. You would think I loved OPEC. LOL.

I’ve been told by my mechanic who’s owned numerous diesel Super Duty’s to always go with Motorcraft filters and don’t fool around with oils. use Motorcraft or Amsoil and little else.
