God shining down on ma new(2004) rig

Our Generators have Alternator heaters, PCV heaters, Coolant heaters, Oil pan heaters, and Battery heaters for the cold…

Nice! Will look into.

Unleash hell’s fury upon the Ford. Watch that meter spin…

Sweet stuff! I could just heat the driveway.

Update: One battery was dead and the other was weak. Starts like a champ now.

Get used to buying batteries.

Well you have seen the cab off in previous pictures so I figured I post the opposite of that(everything else off)…

why?? lol

WTF are you doing?? building an End of the World Survival vehicle?

Yep.
Seriously though, it is just getting some “restoration” work done. It seems to have been painted before but the important work under the paint was not done properly so…
Why is it that German cars can easily go 20 years without rust but it seems like American cars are made to rust?

because obamacare

I am definitely “spreading the wealth” as Obama wanted me to. I have spread tens of thousands in the local economy instead of buying a new truck which would have helped corporate America.

And the bonus is I don’t have to drive one of those retarded looking new trucks.

Ummmm…I’m not on that list.

You should see my 2002…

The bed is even worse. I have been looking around for a southern truck bed but haven’t had a lot of luck.

Crazy. My truck was registered in West Virginia most of its life, not southern enough I guess.

I may need a little work on a home in Wheatfield. Not sure if you would even bother with it.

Latest mods :)…

New paint and induction hood… oh yeah, and a 500lb T-Rex.

You should leave that in the bed year-round, lol.

I would love to.
Maybe I could use this in lieu of the 450# of sand I had back there last winter.

4X4 troubles…

One of the many disadvantages to not having the talent or time to fix your own vehicle is that you are at the mercy of other people.
So my truck was making nasty noises in 4wd drive so when I had it painted the guy told me he could fix the 4wd too. This week I took it to my mechanic right next door because it was making noise again. He informed me that whoever worked on it left parts out of the assembly. The guy who worked on it is not close and I would need a ride home after dropping the truck off and then a ride to get back to the mechanic. Frankly I don’t want to let the guy touch the truck at this point anyway. Also I need the truck to plow my driveway like now. I will probably end up paying the guy next door $400 to fix it tomorrow.

Sidenote: the “auto” hubs are useless. I asked around because they didn’t seem to do anything and I learned that they are supposed to work by vacuum but never do. lol

Mine worked flawlessly for years and it was a real benefit to be able to lock / unlock the hubs, when racing from lot to lot when plowing, without ripping up and down the road at 50-55 in 4WD. They failed on me last year or the year before and they’ve really been unfunctional since. It was on my list of things that need attention but in lieu of recent events, it’s kind of on the back burner. My transfer case wont’ engage now since the rebuild but I think it’s just a missed connector and we should be able to fix it tomorrow. Would’ve been nice to be able to plow my driveway tonight. Shoveling lasted a lot I’ve looked into aftermarket manual hubs but those don’t seem much cheaper than an OEM replacement and I’d still have to run around and twist em on and off.

Maybe you’ve mentioned it previously but where is your “Stuper Duty” in relation to the bulletproof list?

Ok, $1000 and 1 week later my 4wd (including the auto hubs) is back in business. Front axle u joints, vacuum seals, machined front drive shaft ($145 vs. $660 for new) and a few other parts. Big riggin is not cheap. Apparently because diesels don’t run vacuum other parts and pieces need to be maintained for auto locking hubs.

Rebuilding the front driveshaft cv without machining it only lasts a few months, ask me how I know.
