God shining down on ma new(2004) rig

I had to take mine back today but luckily it was just a radiator clamp. The puddle in my parking lot feels like thin oil. I am new at this diesel stuff, not sure whats in a diesel cooling system. lol

What color was the coolant?

Clear

Should be a “gold”

I let it drip on a white paper towel and it seemed pretty clear. Got me.

It’s funny the truck doesn’t give you the feeling of speed, maybe because it is high up with large tires, etc. I am always pleasantly surprised when I look at the speedometer. Speaking of that, the speedometer has got to be reading low with the big tires.

The tuner should have a correction for that.

Yeah I guess you can even make it so your fogs stay on when high beams are on. Lol
The instruction book has about nothing in it, I will have to work with unit itself I guess.

We got pounded up on the hill and it wasn’t “powder” snow. I was all happy thinking to myself that the Ranger wouldn’t even been able to move this snow! I should have known something bad was going to happen. lol You know, using the Xterra to pull the Polaris Ranger out was always easy but getting an eight thousand pound Ferd out is another story. The hill right in front of my house was super slippery because of the heavy, packed snow so I slid the plow right into a tree and the only way to get out was back up the slippery slope. I got her out but that sucked! I basically ended up digging trenches in the stone driveway so I could at least rock-it a bit. Once I was able to back up about three feet I cranked the wheel to go around the tree. My wife has always like the trees on the island but I told her they would be gone by the end of this week end.

Dumpage…

At least I am not an amateur speller.

Another amateur move by me…

I went away for a week and left my truck out in the fridged weather without having my wife fire it up once in a while. So tonight I tried the block heater and it just kicks the breaker in the wall. I tried starting it with a charger/starter but that didn’t even work. How the f**k do I start this thing in 10 degree weather? :frowning:

Edit: I also have a jumper pack on the other battery so I have a total of 3 batteries and a starter/jumper cranking it. (2.5 batteries really)

Not sure why the block heater is tripping the breaker. Have you ever used it? Mine never did that. Think all you can do is try and drag it into a garage with heat to defrost. You may need new batteries. Mine doesn’t like starting in the cold but has never refused. I seem to go through batteries like underwear. Well maybe a little more often than that. Interstate has a shelf with my name on it.

I hadn’t tried the block heater until tonight, mistake maybe. The batteries did die when they installed the plow and demonstrated it without it running but they have never given me trouble since. Maybe on the verge. (?)

Unfortunately I could build a shelter around it easier than I could get it into my garage. Lol

Wonder if there’s an issue with the plow wiring. Who did it Kaminski? I can quote you to build a shelter a.k.a. Ma new rig cozy.

Stupid question but do you wait for the glow plug light to go off? My bro hasn’t had an issue with his, it just sounds like it has a nasty cam for a few seconds.

It’s pretty ironic that the super manly plow truck doesn’t work in the cold.

I got it started at about 11:00 last night and it started fine this morning, I think it is just a battery issue. I actually ran the glow plugs more than once when it didn’t start but they really drain the battery too, it may not be good with weak batteries.

My 7.3 doesn’t like it when it’s 10 out.

Bump your batt size up a bit, and theres a company called Wolverine that makes heating elements that stick to your oil pan via epoxy, they work much better than a block heater alone. Had one on my 01 Duramax and didnt have an issue the entire time I owned the truck…just got rid of it this past October
