Has anyone ever done this? I tried it once and it was completely awkward and I tried it another time just stopping in to have a drink at a place where I knew a bartender and it was a great time.
id imagine that it would be depressing, ive never done it
seems like it would be awkward. i have done it to catch the end of a game though, and it turned out alright. i would never “go out” by myself if that’s what you are asking.
edit: just to skew the poll results, i voted for doing it all the time.
Airport bars count?
no, you’re expected to go to those alone.
When i moved from Buffalo to Seattle i drove there alone. Well i had a week to do it so i mapped it out and every night i would stop at a city/town on the way and go out and have a few. I had some really good on that trip.
all the time for lunch, or some other meals.
every time i meet new people. maybe you guys should try sucking less, and you will make new friends
Airport bars only…
Depends on the bar and the city
Theres a few places around the city where I could just walk in and be almost assured of knowing someone, so to those places its not a big deal and I’ll do it somewhat often. Also not a big deal if youre grabbing lunch or dinner. I wouldn’t go out ‘for a night’ by myself though.
I do it, there are certain bars I can go into alone, and I know I am going to have a good time.
:word:
Only where the bartender is a friend and it’s not busy.
i go out most of the time by myself… ill send a text out, but if someone meets up… cool, if not, no worries…
i go to shoot pool and hang out. usually going with a group ends up in drama, so i always like to drive myself.
now strip clubs… thats another story… you cant roll into one of those by yourself… THATS depressing
I am talking about the general pub type bars. Not necessarily a night out to a club alone.
I was sitting at a pub waiting for my friend to show up and thought about if it would be awkward or not to be sitting there alone all night.
I go out alone when Im on business in another state.
Sitting at a bar is one thing, table for one is a whole different story.
:word:
It’s the only way.
If I’m traveling it’s fine. Going to visit a bartender friend is cool, although I have no friends who bartend.
As for sitting home alone and going “I’m bored. I think I’ll go to a bar where I don’t know anybody.” Yeah, that’s just the alcoholism talking and you’re well on your way to being a creepy townie at the Jolly Jug.
i go when im already ouy and waiting on people or if i know someone who works there
ahh… well in that case… nah i dont go into “bars” by myself…
