Good luck welding this:

why weld it? leave it how it is.

from the e30 board

You mean you can’t fill those holes while welding?!?!?!

great precision

nothing like weld slag dripping into the seams to improve flow

mark it; split it into a few pieces; then weld them seperate; then fit back together and weld again…

Edit: Ok, NVM… those gaps can not be filled; WTF???

last pic is my fave

thats great.

I love when people go through with welding something like this. When they’re finished, they probably think it’s great and that once they grind it down on the outside, it’s all good.

What they will fail to realize is that there is probably now a TON of weld slag built up on the inside. Completely negating the whole point of the equal length header.

I love every second of it.

thats what header wrap is for :gotme:

no weld = weight reduction

huge gaps = aero

Filling gaps like that isn’t too bad… It’s this that’s the problem.

^^

They’re better off cutting up a couple pieces of pipe and grinding them on a belt sander or such to fill in the gaps… Sure it adds a second weld seam, but then you don’t get all kinds of boogers/stalactites/snowflakes/dingle berries (whichever you prefer) on the inside.

But anyway, lol and gl!

P.S.
Are those what appears to be mig tacks?

lol and wtf.
Did he just buy some 90 degree pre bent pipe and some random assorted length piping (Maybe he has a pipe cutter) and throw it together?

i don’t understand why people just don’t BUY a pre fabbed manifold from a company…if they suck at DIY stuff

That collector weighs about 30 lbs.

Who needs precision anyways.

:roflpicard:

Those look like ss schedule 10 weld els.

Maybee hes just trying to figure out that the hood wont close?

Dan

can’t be srs
mock-up for a real one?

 that pipe will never die

Thats some real nice flange welding, and fitting. Nothing like filling 1/2 gaps.
