cool… i’ll be picking up an 89 Swift GTI for a parts car soon… the engine in it is good… I want to try to swap the G13B head onto a Sidekick 1.6 block… build up a spare motor for the Swift.

sounds cool! Does it pretty much bolt right up?

kinda/sorta… you have to weld the 1.6 block’s transmission holes and drill new ones to match the 1.3 tranny… also need custom motor mounts. aside from that, it’s pretty straightforward… it lowers the redline to 6500, but it makes a lot more torque. i’ve heard people say 135hp + 140ft/lb, but that seems high.

yeah, that does sound a little high for a 1.6, but i dont know anything about that setup so i suppose its plausible. 140 ft-lbs would be able to haul around 1700 lb car no problem. My lude had like 155 and it was like 2900lbs.

the only problem with that is that the redline is quite a bit lower, and the block isn’t nearly as strong…

or i could turbo the 1.3  http://www.monsterhorsepower.com/movies_pictures/dynojet/Suzuki/Kyles_Swift_Turbo/150HP_Swift.MPG

well, why ruin a perfectly good rod/stroke ratio to pick up a little down low? Keep the 1.3 and turbo it.

High revving + boost = teh fun

there is an adaptor kit for the samurai that allows you to bolt the 1.6 block right up to a samurai tranny. I don’t know if there are major differences but they aren’t too expensive. I am putting a 16valve 1.6 in my samurai…gonna have fuel injection and like double the current power.

so hows it runing
