Kinda off topic but I was at Target today and pulled out my Native American status card and didnt have to pay tax, I was told that I would work and it did. I guess I can use it at a lot of places, Bestbuy, the mall, etc. Fucking sweet, only wish I would have used it when I bought all my shit for my house. Fuck taxes.
I’m suprised it worked. I had a customer try to use it at my work a long time ago and we didn’t have to accept it. Then he wanted to have the item shipped to his house so he didn’t pay tax, but then he would have had to pay shipping and UPS wouldn’t deliver to the reservation.
Interesting though if you are able to use it off the res.
I dont live on the res. I live in Buffalo. I used it at Target in O.P. I just tried it and it worked. If I get shot down anywhere its worth a try. She scanned it and took the numbers off it and all I did was sign the receipt. I know it works at bestbuy and in the mall but not sure anywhere else. Im deff. gonna try it other places and see.
I’m jumping in here a year or so late but I have to add: taxing diet soda is absurd. Since when is “diet” soda 100% organic and good for you? It’s not good for you, it’s just as terrible for you as regular soda but less sugar and sometimes less calories. To allow a tax on something just because of a pretty much useless prefix is absurd, and is definitely a slippery slope. It’s almost as bad as the “gas guzzler” tax.
If they want to add additional taxes whatever, I’m sure they will, but to do it under the guise of improving the populace’s health is out of control ridiculous. Pretty soon they’ll tax groceries that have over a certain amount of calories. Or food at restaurants that’s deep fried will cost more… And who will be researching the products that will have the “fat tax” imposed on it? Will it be based entirely on prefixes? I’m not one for conspiracy theories or big brother philosophies but that’s a laughable yet scary thought to say the least.

wtf ive been a member of my resevation since i was like 9 years old…i still do not have a card though…i was up in Akwesasne in november so my duda’s family could pay their respects to her but the council house wasn’t open…and to anyone who has been on an actual reservation or has family on the reservation like I do knows that just because of the casino does not make them all “rich” off from it… i wish i had took the picture of the sign of the bridge we crossed when we actually crossed onto the reservation the said “no white men allowed”

As long as I’m not forced to see or take part with 2 guys having sex I don’t care if they do it. I guess I would care if my dad 180d and turned gay but it’s not happening so I could care less and I lose respect for people who do care. I would still call him dad and would not hate him. I am not a member of a res. though. I have lived in Buffalo all my life, my mom is full blooded Native American and my dad is full Irish (drinking mix), I am %50 as you can tell. I have had my card for over a year now and have only used it the one time to see if it worked and it did. Anyway, I do not expect any different treatment from the government but I can understand where the Natives that live on the res. come from. I will however use the card again when I buy my 70" Plasma.
Also I know a few Senecas who do get money every month because they are Seneca from the casino. They get like $500 a person a month for free just for being Seneca.
All enrolled Seneca’s who are over 18 get what is called an annuity check. I’m not sure if it’s every month, or every 3 months. I know that enrolled Onedia indians get them too.
yeah, and if you are part of a smaller tribe…you get MAD amounts of money.

ok, I am not completely against discussing option for universal health coverage, even though I do not think there is currently any logical solutions, but I will be damned if I have to pay for someone else’s healthcare because I wan’t to drink a beer or coke. I know plenty of people who don’t have health insurance because they would rather spend the money on stupid shit they dont need. Why the hell should I have to pay for them?
Real wages have been steadily declining in this country while taxes, fees and fines have been steadily decreasing. How long will it before they just take all our paycheck and then provide the things they feel we need. …/end rant.
