I’m sorry, but tax exempt status should not apply to sales to people who live off the reservation. They claim sovereign nation status, but last time I checked I can’t go to Canada, buy stuff, and bring it back to the US without paying duty.

honestly i think the indians should be tax free, but not all the people that go to the reservations to buy shit.

Spitzer is an idiot…all the money that the Indians are bringing in gors right into the economy. He says we are losing all this money by not taxing them…well wtf does he think they spend their money on? There are no car dealerships on the rez, or superstores, or malls or anything. All the $$ they bring in goes right into the local economy.
They’re simply not going to stand for it. Their economy is based on gas and tobacco. They are not going to get by selling dream catchers and tax-free lunch to truckers. If they impose the taxes, most of the res shops will go under, and that probably won’t go over too well.
They actually do tax cigs now. Last time I went, there was $1 tax on every carton, with a stamp and everything. I guess the money goes to the local schools, etc. I didn’t complain. Whether you feel they should be taxed or not, it will be going down if Spitzer starts shit.

there should be an automatic picard that comes up when JEG posts on something political. The money that the Indians are bringing in goes into Smokin Joe’s pocket, and people like him. If they turned the same profit margins as normal gas stations, I could respect that, but instead they mark the gas up 40-50 cents above their price, compared to the ~5 cents a gallon a normal gas station makes, so it’s just below regular prices but he still makes 10x more profit. Thats why he keeps adding car washes, more stations, “Trading Post” superstores, etc. Other than the minimum wage jobs at the facilities, they plow the money right into reinvestment in their businesses. Hopefully, the gravy train is over. Good riddance.
And the shit that they usually pull is not going to fly any more. With all of this homeland security shit, most of the stunts they’d pull could be considered terrorist activities. We’ll see if they get away with it. If muslims started a tire fire on the thruway, they’d be on the next flight to guantanamo bay.

Joe, you’re fucking wrong. Maybe it’s like that on the rez up by Tonawanda, but most of the money made down in Irving is used to better their economy. So they live in trailers, I’ve seen some pretty nice fucking trailers. Some of that land gets so mushy and wet, horrible to build on.

Besides Irving, a lot of the rez’s are fucking shit holes. Some of the electrical and mechanical consultants at my work have talked about how fucking awful it is out there. A majority of the homes dont have electricity or water… they are all pure dumps. So where is this casino and gas money going? Yea. Corrupt as a motherfucker, just like every other government.
Anyways, every canidate in the history of NYS says they are going to get money from the indians, and every time it’s a fucking mess. I agree with letting them be… but i think we should really just let them be… on their own 
The tonawanda rez is a dump. Most others I’ve been in are dumps. Any money made in Irving bettering their economy is probably coming from the casino, not the gas stations. We are currently subsidizing them so they can sell us cheap gas. Where do you think 200 million dollars is going to come from in the budget if they dont collect? We’re counting on the owners of gas stations as their main source of education and health care improvements? That certainly sounds like solid economics. :bloated: Hell, it would be more efficient to spend half the money they collect off of non-Indians to build them better facilities, at least that would be a little more equal distribution.
Sureshot!, which ones are you talking about? (Just wondering…) I’ve only been to the Onedia rez and Irving. Oneida is fucking beautiful. And they have the Turning Stone Casino.
I’m not sure if you guys are aware, but the money from the casino goes to the people in the form of Annuity Checks. They’re pretty sweet. I know that Seneca’s get like $5000 or something when they turn 18, and Oneida’s get $45,000 for turning 21. Plus they get checks every 3 months, around $1500 I think.
So the money does go to the people, fuckers. Some just don’t use it the right way… and that’s a personal choice. Plus I think they help you out with education.
So don’t fucking tell me that the money goes right into the big guys pockets.
