That’s one option. You can also buy the harbor freight tile saw, buy a tile blade for your circular saw and use a hose to keep the tile wet or mark the tiles and take them to lowes to be cut for $.25 a cut.
Wet tile saw costs $55/day to rent from HD.
I’m tiling a bathroom now, and went 1/2-n-1/2 with my dad in on a Kobalt wet saw from Lowes for $179 because he’s got a bunch of tile work to do as well. Only fun part with a wet saw is the end of the cuts and keeping the tile from chipping the corner as you cut it, especially with small pieces.
Got all the tile set, tonight is my first experience in grouting… should be interesting.
I bought a tile cutter at HD for $80
If you dont have a shitty blade on the tile saw, and you go slow the tile will never crack
and OP, im assuming that outlet is for the puck lights? splice those wires and run them all together and hook them into the switch. if you have a lazysusan run a junction box behind it so its not hanging down like that. you can run them thru the top of the cabinets and just staple them in the back. usually there is a groove (while u have the countertops off)
That’s a good idea, I’ll add that to the to-do list when I replace the countertop. Thanks.
Meh. Laminate can be okay as long as it’s not 90s blue, pink, or green (or any combination of these). Although, being from the 90s there won’t be any off gassing. nom nom nom.
I also did the same and i love it.
My current house the previous homeowner did HD laminate it has been awesome. I would not do tile countertops in a kitchen (basement/bar type setting different story) in a kitchen they scream as Fry said to me cheap. Not to mention all the other annoyances with them.
Some pictures from Halloween time…
Tile screams cheap 1980s timeshare condo to me. They suck to look at and suck to work with. You can find better quality options for the same money as many others have posted.
Yeah, we decided we’re going with laminate and buy a ballin granite sink since the POS white one we have didn’t last a year without nasty scratches.
Post which sink! I am about to grab one myself. Fk white sinks. The people i bought my house did a GREAT job in the kitchen and then added a white sink. WTF!
I loved the look of my white sink. It was awesome for like 2 months, then it got all scratched in the bottom. I think we’re going to go with black granite in the same style black laminate that I have. Both will be that dull black so they match.
Maybe something like this one

Nice they actually did a nice corian sink in ours.
maybe a stainless sink would look good?
I hate stainless sinks haha, it’s like a super pet peeve of mine. IDK why, but I think they look terrible.
