GTR test mule in the states

I’m suggesting that it looks like a piece of shit.

hahaha that it does.

i am sure, if it is legit, that it’s just a powertrain mule. theres no way itll look anything close to that

Car companies are usually super protective of mule cars. Whenever they are snapped up, they don’t have any badges, and have black vinyl applied over any distinguishing characteristics.

The cars they don’t disguise are usually pilot units, stuff that will be available very shortly.

I don’t see why they would have it in Michigan either. Nissan does its testing in California. Michigan is predominantly American manufacturers.

But who knows. Nissan has almost released a few Skylines. The Proto was supposed to be very close to as-production as possible. We were told this by Nissan themselves. They even provided us with tenative release dates, spec sheet, a guy from Honeywell to explain the VNT turbos.

But now we’re hearing through the grapevine the Proto will NOT happen.

I honestly think that Infiniti pictured was a track edition, or NISMO edition of the G35, in town for the Detroit Auto Show.

^

It says right in the post that the photo was snapped in Arizona, most likly for hot weather testing.

That is a kitted G35 with the engine and drivetrain that ‘should’ be in the new GTR.

I can only gather they are testing the drivetrain since there have been pictures of that car in car and driver and super street MONTHS ago.

Its working wonders for nicoclub though.

i said the same when i took a look at GTR proto for the offical unvailing…

its not a skyline… its a G35…

The new GTR is a completely different car.
They unvelled the concept a while ago,and the production car is suppost to be very close to the concept.
They only thing I know about it is, it will be twin turbo with two side mount intercoolers.Estimated 450-500hp.It will be sold here as a Infiniti, hopefully still turbocharged.

It wont be … just like everything else sold overseas… once it comes here it will be so watered down and AMERICANIZED. Lancer anyone?

what’s different about the US Evo compared to Japan or Europe’s equivalent models? (not talkin about the fq300 or anything)

not nesisarly, for example the usdm wrx engine is better than the jdm wrx engine.Don’t no why but many japanese tuners swap for the usdm motor.

They had to detune the JDM wrx engine because the maximum legal horsepower any car can be manufactured with in Japan is 280hp.

Or at least this is what multiple sources have told me, lol.

^ that rule does not apply anymore.
and the reason the USDM STI engine is better (in my opinion) is because it has half a liter more discplacement. 2.5 vs 2.0

That whole bit about 280hp is old news.

There used to be a restriction that no car could be sold with more than 280hp.

That’s why the R32 was only rated at 280. Then the displacement went up, turbos got bigger, cars got heavier, but somehow were faster with the same power level.

Well, turns out no one took it seriously, and they just rated the cars lower.

And yeah, the Lancer sucks here, not in the US.

And apparently we’re going to get the EVOX here in full-blown JDM-ness. Well, except for the left hand drive thing. But they said the same thing about the EVOVIII.

mike is passively pwning people again.
