“We’re not terribly surprised that the Dodge Viper ACR has apparently made it around the famed German racing circuit faster than pretty much anything else you’ll find on a dealer’s lot. After all, the ACR is a race car, as evidenced by the video that Motor Trend has posted. The most venomous Viper has done the deed in 7:22, fast enough to make grown men cry. To this blogger, the Viper is dead gorgeous, even with that yucky-but-functional rear wing on the ACR, and it definitely carries the spirit of hairy-chested cars of yore. The shifter wobbles around horrendously when the driver kisses the rev limiter a few times, and there even appears to be a flubbed shift near the end, so the ACR may have faster laps left in it. We’re waiting on confirmation on whether or not this is an official lap, but it’s certainly creating a stir, and the Viper wants to know, V-Spec who? Thanks for the tip, Rob.”
fail.
R compound tires don’t exactly put it at the same level as the GTR.
Oh yea, old news.
LOL thats how much I pay attention to shit on this site :headbang
lmfao now THAT is funny :crackup
:lmao :lmao good find.
:repost
the hell is up with that shifter twitching like a mofo and the motor sounding like it chokes?
the tranny mounts are prolly rubber insulated. When Im hammering on the gas, mine does the same thing.
kinda goes D-D-D-D-D-Dshakes WRRRRRRRR accelerates, like that?
yah…not that bad lol
but it does torque back and forth when im on/off/on the gas again
are cars supposed shake like that? is it like when u dont give it enough gas and it kinda bucks back and forth?
Its a Dodge.
thats what happens when youve got a big engine, loads of torque and the shifter mounts to the top of the tranny… there are no rods or cables in between the shift lever and the tranny so absorb the movement. the shifter on this viper is bucking around because hes banging the rev limiter and the enigne is jostling around on its mounts
Mine never did that from stock mounts to poly to solids. That’s just crappy American design.
…Whups, missed that part about big power… :ohnoes
do you ride the limiter like that guy? the vipers gearing is inferior to the nurburgring.
Depends on the track and gearing. I’ll hit it once a lap at Watkins Glen, twice at Mont Tremblant, etc. Sometimes its faster to let it sit at fuel cut for a second than to shift up then shift down.
Shifter doesnt really move while driving. :shrug
I only watched part of the video but that car doesnt have race (short) gearing, but it makes crazy power. There’s no need for him to stay in a gear in several spots. He may not be a ring expert, just a test driver. Since its nearly impossible to learn your shift points for everywhere on that track, it looks like he did an awesome job considering.
you have a Inline 6…if you have a V8, where the motor torques back and forth like a mother, your shifter would do the same.
