Just wondering if anyone has done this before and what method they used. I can use a boot disc.
I can log on to a limited user but not the admin because the password is unknown.
Both finding the password or resetting it would work.

most people do not forget admin account passwords.

download the ISO and burn it to a disk. Its all text based, but you can access the registry and delete the password with it.
when you boot up with it, type nt_pass and you’re on your way. When you get the choice, go into SAM to remove the administrator password.
I used to use ERD Commander for things like that.
How do you intend to get into safe mode without knowing the password?
The easiest way is with an Austrumi boot CD.
I tried that, and its password protected.
I didn’t buy the computer new, or set up windows on it.

ive had luck with windows xp just starting up in safe mode and changing the password
