Harbor Freight Pass/Fail Thread

You shouldn’t be under the car while you are lifting it anyways. But I’ve had the seals shit out of some floor jacks from sears, as well as the GM goodwrench ones that come with a set of jack stands. Haven’t had a car fall, but I have had them slowly lower while the car was on it, or just not lift it up.

Hf sockets are the way to go i do alot of business with snap-on and there quality is unmtched but the prices are horrid. Ive been meanig to get down to hf

subscribed. good thread. have a HF airbrush, figured fuck it, i might as well. $15 dollars and 8 months later, still haven’t used it. don’t have the hose.

I still have the same HF set (believe it the brand is chicago) from when I started working on cars a long time ago. I replaced them with snapon socket when they were onsale, but the HF ones worked without issue for years. Now they are for home use.

Most of the hydro tools in my own shop r h.f , not 1 issue

i’ve had a set of these for probably 2 years, last night this one reached it’s elasticity.
I guess it’s time for some craftsmans ones now. Still for the price, i’d say i got my money worth, i still have 3 smaller ones left

harbor fright does the same thing snap on and craftsman has been doing for year. they warranty it if it breaks and you go in and they give you a new one.

i have used the harbor fright air grinder with 2" disc for years and it still works good.

also bought a polishing kit for metals that worked good.

i guess i’ll try to bring it back since i am heading there tonight to get a 20ton hydraulic press, but i don’t have a receipt so i doubt they’ll cover it. Who knows, we’ll see

try it out and let us know how it goes.

i return stuff all the time at sears without a recipt. if you look like a crack head it will not be as easy

i can definitely vouch for that 3 ton floor jack and harbor freight jackstands. ive been using both for a while with absolutely no issues.

i also have the 20 ton press and its been good. used it from common things like bushings and bearings and some uncommon shit like a case backhoe.

i had a prybar from harbor freight once and i bent the damn thing into a crescent shape. that was fail

all harbor freight hand tools, not just the pittsburgh brand are lifetime warrantied, no receipt neccesary, if they argue it with you make them look the item up in their system it tells them the warranty with the item, jiffylube uses nothing but hf torque wrenches and the guy used to bring them in every week to swap out broken ones lol, idk if i would trust a 10 dollar torque wrench though

anybody use the cen-tech code readers? i need to grab one tonight and i’m torn between HF or the Actron at Advance auto…?

DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF SHIT, AND IF YOU ALREADY HAVE AND HAVE NOT USED IT THROW THE FUCKING THING IN THE DAMN TRASH.

My Wagner spray gun shit the bed between now and the last time I used it in mold production. So called my dad and he said he had a gun from HF that he never used. Picked it up and tried it out, then wished I never wasted my time.

In the twenty odd seconds that I actually got it to work it created 2+ hours of fucking cleanup and I had to spend at least that amount of time after the primer dried to touch up and get the plug surface back to where it was prior to this disaster. I can’t even call what it did a spray pattern, because it wasn’t spray.

If you have an inclination to spend the $20 on it, don’t. Go down to a paint store and spend 3x the amount and buy a Wagner or similar quality gun. This thing will be used as a wheel chock the next time I’m changing brakes on the jimmy.

I have an Actron, works great. And I used a Advance Auto discount code online to get it for a cheap price.

This chair in stock form SUCKS and will break quickly if using on anything other than a perfectly smooth floor. Went to Lowes and bought my own casters and beefed this thing up like crazy and now it works perfect. Spent more on the casters and hardware than this chair cost altogether though.

I have had the sears equiavalent of that roll seat for years without issue. Not sure the price spread, but it might be cheaper to just buy the sears on rather then buy the cheapo and the casters.

I have around $50 total into it. I think the reason the casters failed was from rolling on 4inch tiles…
